Chapter 1: Taken
She was gone, they took her from me. I have no idea why they took her. I sat there in the street, people scattering, holding my legs close to my chest.
I didn't want to move, I still remember my mother yelling at me to go to Linda's. She was my mother's best friend. Linda always helped my mother when I was a little girl, my mother could rely on her.
When I finally had the courage to get up, I went to Linda's house, a few blocks from where I was sitting.
When I got to her door, I rang the doorbell waiting for her to answer. Linda opened the door and invited me in.
"What brings you here Rebecca?" She asked me with kind eyes.
"They took my mother." I mumbled under my breath. Her expression looked like she knew what I was talking about.
"Would you like some soup I made extra if you would like any?" She questioned still with a puzzled expression on her face, trying to change the subject.
"No thanks, I'm just tired." I uttered. I was exhausted, I didn't realize what time it was. I looked over my shoulder, to the living room where the t.v and clock, the clock was on a little desk under the t.v. It was 4:30. She walked me to her guest room, a little ways down from her room.
"If you need anything just tell me."
"Ok." I replied. When we got into the room, it looked the same, I was here a few days ago. The bed against the corner of the room, a dresser next to the small closet, across from the bed, and a little desk next to the bed with a lamp on it. It wasn't a very big room.
"Thanks." I mumbled under my breath. She nodded and left the room. I kicked off my shoes and laid on my bed.
I felt like something was jabbing my side. I touched my pocket and realized that I had my phone in my pocket. I took it out of my pocket and saw that I had a voicemail, it was from my mom. I gently opened my phone and listened to the message.
"They are coming for me, I need you to stay strong, (scream)." Her voice started fading away. "Don't let them take you, I won't let you go out like this...get off of me. I love-" it stopped after that. I felt tears burning in my eyes and rolling down my face.
What did they do to her? I thought to myself. I quickly wiped my tears. I sat my phone down on the little table next to me and laid down. I drifted off to sleep thinking about my mom and the good times we had together.
