Victoria climbed up the side of Veronica's wall, and knocked on her window. 'Psst, Veronica, come on.'
Veronica got up from her bed and looked at her. She climbed out the window as she watched Victoria jump down. They both got to the bottom, and Veronica looked at her group of 'friends.' Veronica always felt out of place with them, they were bad behaved, and Veronica never dreamed of doing anything bad, until she met them that was. It was midnight, In the summer holidays. They had snuck out almost every night this summer, to go to the beach. When they got to the Beach, another girl from her group of friends, Elizabeth, the one she feared the most, came with some bottles of beer. Veronica didn't drink. She and the rest of them were 15, for goodness sake. 'Sorry I'm late, I was having a hard time sneaking the bottles past my dad.'
They all laughed apart from Veronica, who looked at the waves, wishing she could be back in her room, earphones in, away from everyone.
'Who wants to play truth or dare?' Elizabeth suggested.
'We play truth or dare almost every night, can't we play something different?' Veronica asked, terrified of what the reply was going to be.
Elizabeth stared right into Veronica. The rest of the group was silent.
'Since you clearly don't want to play, you can go first.' Elizabeth smiled and the rest of the group giggled, quietly.
'Truth or dare?'
'Truth.'
Elizabeth smiled. 'Your so boring. Go on, pick dare. Just for once.'
Veronica was so angry, she felt like hurting Elizabeth, although she did what she asked.
'Fine then, dare.'
Veronica wiped one single tear falling down her cheek.
'I dare you to go swim in the sea. Right here, right now.'
The waves that night were so rough, it wasn't safe to go in it. The life guards they were out in the day time, would forbid anyone going in, as it would risk someone's life.
'No, that's stupid, you see the waves out there, don't you?'
'Go on, just for one minute.'
In anger and frustration, Veronica stood up, and desperately wanted to Prove Elizabeth, and the rest of them for that matter, that she wasn't a 'pussy' or a 'chicken' she ran out to the sea, fully dressed, and swam out. It was freezing. She could see some light back where everyone was sitting, mostly because they were all filming her. The waves were getting bigger now, and she was getting worried. She wanted to come back, so she started swimming. She heard 'pussy!' Being shouted from back there, but she didn't care, she wanted to get back. A big wave pushed Veronica to the bottom. She couldn't breathe. The faces of her friends changed and the cameras turned off. It was the faces of panic. They called Veronica back, but they couldn't see her any longer. For Veronica, it was all in slow motion. Then, the biggest wave, pushed her down. She flipped over under water. Then it all went black. There was silence.
