I looked in the mirror one last time, making sure I looked presentable. I attempted putting on eyeliner but was failing miserably. I mean, come on, I was only 15. I wore make-up only occasionally, but never really liked the feeling of always being paranoid that it would smudge or something. I tried again, this time actually turning out decent. I smoothed my pink floral print dress. My nose twitched at the color, but I remembered how much my mom had loved it at the store after she had urged me to try it on. Feeling bear with the thin straps I put on my denim jacket feeling instantly more comfortable. I slipped on my pink suede flats along with my usual watch adding a couple bracelets. Pink flower earrings were the last touch. There was a soft knock at the door indicating it was my mom.

"You ready sweetie?" she asked entering.

"Do I look ok?" I asked uncertain.

"I think you look more than ok," she stated placing her hands on my shoulders as we both looked at my reflection in the mirror. "You look beautiful honey. I'd say you're trying to impress someone."

I scoffed, "Of course not Mom, who am I going to impress?"

"I don't know, you tell me," she smiled. "This person must be pretty special for you to being wearing your contacts."

I blushed. Was it that obvious?

"You don't have to tell me hun."

"You already know who it is, anyway," I said smiling at her. She never missed a beat.

She gave me a smile reassuring me it was a secret between the both of us.

"Let's go, you're dad's already waiting downstairs."

I sat in the auditorium fiddling with my hands. Any moment now, they were going to announce his name.

"Lucia Elizabeth Giordano...."

We stood up cheering wildly. Matt and Leo obnoxiously blew their air horns while Daniela, Annie, and I screamed.

"Marco Hunter Giordano..."

I cheered loudly my heart beating wildly against my chest.

I could feel the big grin on my face as I watched him accept his high school diploma.

I was happy for him, but at the same time felt heavyhearted that he would be my knight in shining armor anymore. I couldn't deny that I had a major crush on Hunter, but knew it would always be unrequited.

We all gathered after the graduation ceremony was over each family taking turns taking pictures with the graduates.

"Hope, is that you?" he joked as it was our turn to take a picture with them. "Almost didn't recognize you there, you almost do look like a cat with that makeup on."

I smiled at his usual teasing, but couldn't help but feel disappointed that he had noticed the makeup for the wrong reason.

"Relax, you look great," he whispered in my ear causing me to turn beet red.

"Hunter," my mom gushed pinching his cheeks, "we are so proud of both of you."

Hunter rolled his eyes. He hated when we called him Hunter. In reality, only mom and I called him that, just like only he and Mom called me Hope instead of the usual Kat. Aunt Mel had decided to give him that middle name in honor of my mother's love for Hunter Hayes. Weird, I know, but I loved it as much as Mom did. I mean, he didn't look one bit like Hunter Hayes with those dark brown sultry eyes he inherited from Aunt Mel or those brown wave he got from Uncle Dimitri. He had started growing facial hair that made him look older than he already was, not that I minded.
