"No everyone is leaving again please, please don't go please!!!" I wake up suddenly to a pounding on the door, I sit up grabbing my chest only to feel my heart pounding like I had just run a marathon 'what the hell was that dream about' "Hurry up the answer door Rui I know you're in there!!" "I'm coming hold on!" I said tieing my robe around my body, I answer the door of my temporary stay at a run down motel 8 " Rui your rent is late I expect it by the end of the week." I look at my 45 year old creepy landlord with utter shock "What please Mr. A.' I never knew his real name " My rent is not due until next week!" "Sorry no exceptions this time" He looked pleased with himself I am actually only 17 so technically I should not be living on my own but when you lose everything to disease that single handedly wiped out 75% of the American population then no rules really apply anymore. 7 years ago something escaped the government lab in my hometown of Agate, Colorado with a population of only 518 nothing interesting really happened so when people started dropping like flies everyone got interested it started with local news, which turned into national broadcasts everyone knew something except the truth. The government had started making up these unrealistic lies that everyone in Agate knew immediately knew were lies people started protesting asking for the truth. Then it spread every other person was dead or dying. After the whole thing got "cured" the abilities showed up but it only showed up in anyone under 18. I was 10 at the time so I was unlucky. Everyone had groups of different abilities there were so many I can't even tell you all of them. If you were caught by any government official you disappeared no one knows where you would go. My parents had a fake ID made but it didn't get me very far just out of town. I don't know what happened to my family all I know is that they disappeared. When I got captured they put a black bag over my head and knocked me out. When I finally came to I was in an ugly yellow room with a man sitting there just staring at me when he did speak how ever it was raspy and terrifying all he said was "what is your name , age, and abilities" I knew I was different I could control so many different abilities. So I showed him my weakest ability I got classified as a 2. I got lucky the camp was pure torture for anyone over rank 5. But even the weakest ones got disgusting looks from the ones who barely managed to escape the cruel fate we all have to endure. We worked endlessly we got served food once a day it was called "lunch" it consisted of a slice of black toast and a water for years that all I did was eat and work with nothing to look forward to till that night that luck finally came
