Paper Universe

This world is going up in vapor

All obsessing over paper.

Though it could be so easily burned!

They must not realize how naive they've become.

In their ignorant minds all this paper has been "earned"

To buy but limited desires,

Not contentment.

We kill for paper.

We kill the life

That emits the very air we breathe.

We kill for our selfish greed.

Without considering

What will come to be

Of you and me.

They do not see,

Only a few can anymore.

Have we now become sociopaths?

How long will it take until we start to think?

It scares me to imagine what's next in store.

We cut and kill

Without a second of a blink,

We could murder in our sleep!

They're using more

Than they have before.

And it just keeps getting worse.

Novelty or Earth?

Which will come first?

They are so

Enslaved to paper.

Stuck and trapped

It's taken them back

To the paper universe again.

When will it end?
