It was the year 1990. My parents and I were traveling out of town when there were reports of abnormal events that was soon to happen. My little brother kept on whining for us to get his teddy back from home. Dad finally gave in and stopped the car. They dropped me off at the cabin then drove off to home. I went inside and checked the news reports. They showed photos, dates, videos about the event. One concerned me, though. It was the date August 10, 1990 2:38 pm. I checked the clock and sure enough, it read 8/10 2:34 pm. I tried calling my parents but all there was were static. Check the clock again, 2:36 pm. Sirens, cars, phones, and even televisions started to turn on and off rapidly at the same time. Then, came crashing buildings, people screaming in fright, and children crying. I saw something flash in town then a large explosion. My ears were ringing, non stop, for hours. At about 11:29 pm, the smoke cleared up and the ringing stopped. Being curious, I walked carefully down the hill to get a closer look. On the ground, there was burnt bodies and blood splattered. I saw a image or symbol on the ground, so I picked it up and examined it. Thinking that the people from this symbol did this to the city, I clenched it in my fist and tucked it into my pocket. In the sky, there were dust particles roaming freely. Something stopped me in my tracks. It was my parent's car. The doors were broken off and glass was everywhere. With just a peek, I saw the burnt body of my younger brother and a hot red ring om the floor. I assumed it was either Mom or Dad's ring, so I grabbed a piece of the carpet from the car and wrapped it around the ring, the picked it up. The diamond was still amazingly intact. Not a scratch nor chip. Only one thing was off, the color. It turned from a light blue to a neon green. I looked around in the car and saw no sign of dad. He wasn't in a 10 foot range from the car. Mom was still strapped to the seat, with her crisp fingers trying to unbuckle the belt. I felt sorry for her, so I unbuckled it for her. I didn't know what else I could do, so all I said was "I love you, mom" then left the premises. I flipped my hood over to cover my hair and shade my eyes. There was some feeling inside of me that I didn't have before. It was between sadness, anger, or something else. Once I reached the cabin, I grabbed my bag then walked into the woods, hoping to find another city to stay at.
