Era noticed that once one bad thing happened to you, a sort of magnetic field formed around your life and attracted other bad things. For example: you stub your toe before school, and later fail a test; your mom eats your candy (you know, your favorite candy that you've been waiting to eat, the anticipation deep in your stomach all day, until you get home and see the empty bag in the trash), then you find out your dad is cheating; you get sent to an inpatient care facility where none of your family ever visits you (not even when it's your birthday because who cares that you have to spend your 17th birthday alone in a psycho ward), then you get sent back to school where two boys are absolutely, sickeningly, obsessed with your mental illness.
And to be honest? Era was sick of the bad magnetic field. Era Doyle wanted to be happy, goddammit.
