When we got home, Ryan and I had eaten so much candy that we were nauseous. We both went up the stairs tiredly and went to bed. Ryan passed out on his bed and Daulten sat me down on mine, where I started to take off my costume. Once we were both settled, Daulten patted us on our heads and left to go sleep in his room.

Later that night, I woke up feeling sick to my stomach. I got up and went to the bathroom. I shut the door behind me and started puking up all the candy I had eaten. I groaned and said, "Halloween,"

"Kaden, you all right?" Mom asked from the other side of the door.

"Too much candy," I said. "I'm fine,"

"You sure you're okay, honey?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm gonna go back to bed," I mumbled flushed the toilet.

The next morning, I felt a whole lot better. I got up and went down for breakfast, but when I got there, my parents looked grim.

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

"We need to talk," Dad said.

"Okay," I said as we sat down at the table. "What's up?" I asked.

"Wait 'till your brothers get down—"

"Hey guys," Ryan said as he and Daulten came down the stairs.

"Boys, sit down, we need to tell you something," Dad said.

"Are we in trouble?" Ryan asked a little nervous.

"No," He said, looking worse. "Last night, did anything strange happen while you were out?" He asked.

"Well no...not until this ice cream truck pulled up and lured all these kids to it," Ryan said. "Is that what you would consider weird?"

"Was he weird looking?" He asked. "His eyes more specifically,"

"They were black," I said. "And he gave kids candy in popcorn cups,"

"Sandra, can you leave the room please?" Dad said to Mom. "I need to have a private conversation with the boys,"

Mom nodded, "I'll be doing laundry,"

When she was gone, he turned to us and said, "That man was a demon. When he gave those children those cups of candy, he was making more demons; he was possessing them." Dad explained.

"So, now, what we have to exorcise these little kids?" Daulten asked sarcastically. "What the hell are we, priests?"

"No, actually, you're S.Is; aka Supernatural Investigators...like me. Welcome to the family business boys," Dad said.

"What?" We all exclaimed.

"Look, I've never told you what I really do because you were always too young. You know that Al and I are long time partners; well, we used to be S.Is together. I think now's the right time for you to find out. We have a family business going," Dad said.

"We know, the diner," Ryan said.

"Okay, we have two family businesses," Dad said.

"Two diners?" Ryan asked.

Dad sighed and rubbed his forehead. "No, another business besides the diner,"

"Oh..."

"Yeah, S.I. Supernatural Investigating,"

"You mean like Ghost Busters?" I asked.

"Kind of but not...no, well, I don't know...no. It's more than just ghosts. There are other things out there; demons, vampires, werewolves. It's all real," Dad explained.

"So, you're telling us that you investigate cases like that?" Daulten asked.

"Yes," He said.

"Like last night," I said.

Dad nodded.

"So that ice cream man was a demon?" Daulten asked.

Dad nodded.

"And we have to do what again?" Ryan asked.

"Get the demons out of those kids," Dad said.

"Dad, if every kid in the cul-de-sac is possessed, who knows how long it will take to exorcise every single one? How many people will be dead by the time we finish?" I asked.

Dad sat there for a few seconds, thinking. Then he clapped his hands together and said, "Take out the main demon,"

"Well, where do we find him?" I asked.

"Yeah, he might have possessed more kids by now or even hopped the state boarder," Ryan said.

"That's not possible," Dad said.

"Why?" We all asked.

"Because he possessed all those kids; he's too weak to leave. He's trapped here on Earth until next Saturday," Dad explained. "He needs exactly a week to recharge. You've got until midnight on Saturday to send him back to Hell."

"But doesn't he want to go back anyway?" Ryan asked.

"No, he wants to make Hell on Earth, literally. You need to find him fast." Dad replied. "Get some info on him. Fair warning though, it might get a little sick. Talk to the parents of the children who are possessed before you find Zucar; that's the demon's name, by the way."

"Wait, you're not gonna help us?" I asked.

"I...uh, I'm retired, as of today. I'm passing this business onto you boys. Congratulations, and good luck." He smiled and stood up.

"Wait, what to do we tell the parents?" I asked.

"Some people know about S.Is. You're lucky our neighbors know. So go on; get to work," Dad grinned and went out to the living room.

"Well, you heard the man, let's get to work," Daulten said.

The next thing I knew, we were in Dad's truck on our way to the book store.
