Today's the day I find her. Today's the day my locket finds warmth.
Everyone is born with a locket with a unique shape, but there's only one half. The other half is held by your true love and as you become closer to the locket's other half, it gets warmer and warmer. Every boy and girl looks forward to the day they can start their journey to find their love, including Oliver Dean. Especially Oliver Dean.
"Happy Birthday!!!!!" I open my eyes to confetti and screams. I cover my ears because it is way to early for this.
"Okay. Okay. Okay! You can stop now!" I yell at them and I look at their laughing faces and I smile because today is the day.
I hear my dad stomping up the stairs yelling, "Oliver! Get your ass out of bed and come say hello to your grandmother you twenty-five year old!" As everyone files out of my room I groan and roll out of bed onto the confetti ridden floor. I grab a t shirt and sweats and quickly slip them onto my half naked body. With the energy I have I stumble downstairs and begin to greet everyone with a smile and a hug. Mostly it's just my immediate family, mom, dad, and my sister Liza along with my grandparents. But then the door opens and see them. The dynamic duo since freshman year. Celeste and Samuel, my two best friends. The reason I say dynamic duo is because they one percent. One percent of people find their match before their twenty-fifth birthday. They went to the same high school and the moment they met their lockets burned them and they have been happy ever since. They have been matched for 11 years already. They were lucky enough to grow up in love. So I've sort of been the third wheel but it doesn't bother me that much because I know they are happy.
The second I see them I run over to hug them.
"I can't believe you came!" I exclaim.
"Are you kidding? We wouldn't miss your day for the world," Celeste says smiling her classic smile.
"Happy birthday man," Samuel says and holds out his fist. I bump it and we sit down for breakfast and discuss they day ahead.
"So where are you going first to look? What car are you taking? What are you hoping for?" Celeste asks question after question with eggs stuffed in her mouth.
"Well, actually, Celeste you might want to chew and swallow before I tell you," I say and she nods and does as I say.
"Okay, I was thinking you two could come with me," I say, smiling.
Both their eyes go wide and they both start screaming yes before I can tell them anything else.
"Are you serious?!?!" Sam asks.
"Ya I'm serious dude. I figured because you both never got to go on a Finding Trip you could come on mine," I say.
