The First Day

"Livia Brooklyn Ascher, why on earth are you still in bed." His voice echoed through out my nearly empty bedroom.
"I am NOT a morning person," I groaned in response. I folded my pillow over my head in attempt to block out the a.m. noise. He sighed, obviously frustrated with me already, and grabbed the pillow yanking it from my face and throwing it across the room.
"It is the last day if school, I'm sure you can make it one more morning. I groaned again, refusing to move.
"I was going to tell you when you get in the car, but you have a birthday cake mocha waiting for you." I jumped up from my bed and into his arms.
"Thank you, Lexie!" I squealed.
"Yeah, yeah. And by the way, I'm only letting you call me that because you've been waiting for your eighteenth birthday your entire life." I giggled, pushing him out of my room and into the hallway.

I looked around the room waving to a couple of people as I waited for Lex to join me. He had gotten caught up with one of his many, many ex-hookups, but I wanted to talk with him before the final "award" ceremony began. As if he could hear me calling for him, he slid into the seat next to me on the bleachers.
"So what's the plan," he asked, leaning forward in his seat.
"Plan?"
"Yeah, plan. For after school."
"Well, I wouldn't call it a plan. Maybe an outline, or a-"
"Livia." He turned to me sending me one of his infamous ice cold stares. I signed, rolling my eyes slightly.
"I was thinking about hitting the diner first, as per usual. Then moving by boxes into my new apartment before my mom has a chance to say anything. My apartment. Mine!" I started jumping in my seat out of excitement. He chuckled, but was cut off by the microphone.
"Hello, seniors! This is your last assembly, so we thought we'd give out some special awards. Let's begin!" The gymnasium broke out it reluctant laughter before he continued. "Let's start with Most Talented, shall we? Class of 2017's Most Talented student body member is... Ashlee Daisey!"
"She was my first," he whispered in my ear.
"Ashy Ashlee?" I gasped.
"Hey, she wasn't into drugs in seventh grade," he spit out.
"Seventh grade?" I mouthed out as the principal began to speak again.
"Moving on.... class clown... Mr. Gage Stone!" After 15 minutes and 6 awards later, he announced an award and the winners that surprised me to great extent.
"The Cutest Friends award goes to none other than Alex Hayes and Livia Ascher!" Lex choked on his water, and we scrunched up our noses with no intention of going down to the stage like we were supposed to do.
"It's free pizza," the guy on my right said, elbowing my in the side.
Upon hearing that, Lex grabbed my hand and pulled me up, carefully dragging me down the rows of seats.
