"Hey! Nathaniel!" An angry whisper reaches my ears, inevitably causing me to spin around in my seat.

"What?" I grunt, the girl smiling. Must be happy to grab my attention so easily. It wasn't like I was doing anything anyway.

"Are you free to come over tonight? I could use some help with this homework. Mr. Watt isn't exactly cut out for this... well, teaching thing. I'm sure you know what I mean." She whispers, the teacher's head jolting up from behind his computer. It was like a prairie dog. I swear to God, he has super hearing or something.

"What was that, Miss Hail?" Mr. Watt growls, causing her face to brighten up to the shade of a tomato. "And you, Mr. James, can turn around can't you? Most people sit forward in their seats." He says, creating a stir of laughter from the room while I spin around and lean back. I take one look back and a girl with long red hair just sits in the back, not laughing along with everyone else. The quiet one, of course.

"Yeah, yeah. Get back to waxing your bald spot." I growl in my head, staring up at the ceiling. Mr. Watt isn't a very good instructor. He takes notes from other teachers on the Internet and they are usually correct... But yesterday? Not at all. The notes looked like they were taken from a ten year old with no sense of handwriting. Not to say I'm any better, though.

The bell rings and I stop leaning back in my chair. I throw my math book in my backpack and sigh, looking at the board. Senior year is supposed to be the, ahem, "best year of high school you'll ever have!", whereas for both Rachel and I... Not really.

"Finally the day's over! You're coming over, right Nathan?" Rachel asks and I nod, responding to the shorter name she uses. Her brunette hair falls over her left eye as she spins around, looking out for the group I could only expect. The group I call the Assholes. More or less a group of bullies. Assholes is a more fun word to use though.

Considering that both Rachel and I aren't exactly on the top of the school food chain and easy targets on their way out of class, they use that to their advantage. You know, the good ol' big beats small sort of thing. I could have sworn that crap ended in the nineties. "Yeah, it's good that it's over, like any other day." I sarcastically grunt as I stand up. "Come on, they know this class is our last. Let's go before they get here."

"Believe me, you don't have to tell me." She mutters, followed by a sigh. "Or maybe we could wait it out..." She says, looking back at Mr. Watt. He just glares at us. "Never mind." She coughs. I slowly exit the room, immediately receiving a shove from my left side.

I crash to the floor and I hear the idiotic laughs of the Assholes. "Lookie lookie! We gots ourselves a stupids person!" The idiot of the three laughs. I know... Ironic, am I right? Their leader, Dane, grabs me by my shirt collar from the floor and holds me in the air. I shit you not, this dude is like six-five. I'm like five-eight.

"Don't worry, buddy ol' pal, you won't be the only one getting pummeled today." He laughs, Rachel running down the right side of the hallway, leaving a soldier down on the battlefield. Mr. Watt isn't very good at observing his surroundings and he was most likely listening to one of his favorite pop band through his phone. Specifically Katy Perry.

Hey, I'm not judging, alright?

I am carried away from the classroom and outside to the back parking lot. I see Anthony, the so called school druggie, standing nearby rubbing his eyes. For a kid who takes drugs, he doesn't look like it at least. As I'm distracted, I'm thrown onto the concrete and I groan, pain flowing throughout my whole left side. I wasn't really scrawny, but I wasn't athletic either. I stood no chance against Dane, and that's why he enjoys slapping me around the most.

"Sir! (We)s couldn't finds her!" The idiot yells with another one of his Asshole buddies.

"Well then, looks like someone is getting a double pummel! Just the thought of the thrill gets me going!" The leader roars. This dude doesn't really care much. He just likes hitting stuff and apparently I seem like a perfect punching bag along with Rachel.
