Dear Diary,

Well, hello there.  My name is Merilda.  I'm the leader of the revolution against the Black King, the oppressive leader of our country.  I will save the kingdom from the Black King and from his evil daughter, the Dark Princess.  Together, they bring ruin to the land, burning crops and the like.  The twelve kingdoms that he took over each hate him.  As I'm sure you know, each element of magical power stems from a certain kingdom, and everybody born in that kingdom can use that element of magic.  I am from the Black King's own birthplace, the Kingdom of Darkness.  In my revolution, I accept people from every kingdom that want to do their part in defeating the king.  Obviously, I am the only one that will actually kill him, seeing as I am destined for greater things than the average foot soldier.

My friends, the Council that does the day-to-day commanding of the revolution's army, started it and then passed on the leadership to me.  I am the clear leader, the one that truly commands the peoples' hearts.  This revolution is all for me.

In fact, dear diary, I have a suspicion that I am the Shadow Princess, the Black King's long-lost elder daughter.  If that is true, then I am truly the one meant to defeat him in his evil.  Of course, I will also be certain to take over the kingdom after his righteous demise.  They can call me Merilda Kingslayer, She Who Slew the King.  Is that redundant?  Never mind, I didn't ask for your opinion, diary.  Yes, I caught that look you threw at me!  I know that you're alive or whatever, and your moving eyes are kind of creeping me out, but that gives you no excuse to act as anything other than a book for me to write my thoughts in.  Yeah, that's right.  Shut up.

Well, it looks like I'm about to make another public speech!  I'll grab my ornamental daggers and my rather revealing uniform.  It's all for the revolution.  Symbolism and all that.  I don't really get it, but Denar told me that it's necessary for a leader to be recognizable.  I guess that's fine, then.  What's that pitying look for, book?
