Daphne

Chapter One

"Daphne, you are going to be late for your first day of Sophmore year! Get up!" Daphne's stepmom, Lena called from the three stories below. They lived in a mansion with five stories and with an attic and a basement. Daphne sighed, she hated being rich like this. It was only because her father, David Patel had happened to fall in love with a former super model who now has her own clothing line. Now Daphne Patel was one of the most popular girls in school, which most girls would kill for, but Daphne felt as if she needed to earn her popularity. Before Lena she had been the smartest and nerdiest girl in school and had been into a bunch of supernatural things, like vampires and werewolves. She even believed in Bigfoot, but her stepmom didn't understand all that stuff, unlike her other mom who had divorced her dad. Her mom's name was Chlora and she had believed in everything that Daphne did. When Daphne was little she even believed her mother was a pixie who had transformed into a human.

Daphne came out of her bed. "I bet this year is going to be exactly like last year,"she said to herself quietly and then she looked over at her bookcase. On the side of it stood her glasses. "Unless!"A few minutes later she came downstairs with her glasses on. When Lena saw her she gasped and shook her head.

"Daphne! You can't go to school looking like that! What will your friends think?" Lena asked.

"They'll think I am smart and know that I will be successful in life. I don't care what they think anyways! Where's Daddy?" Daphne asked.

"He went to go meet up with some of his old friends. You remember, Tommy and Dustin, right?" Lena asked.

"Of course, they're my Uncles!" Daphne frowned. "Of course he wouldn't take me!"

"Oh come on! Your father told me he didn't want you to miss the first day of school," Lena explained.

"Alright, I'm out of here. See you tonight!" Daphne yelled as she got onto her motorcycle.

"Take your convertible!" Lena yelled, but Daphne was already out of the driveway.

When Daphne finally drove up to her school Jade, Katerina and Emily were all waiting for her. They gasped when they saw her. "That cannot be Daphne!" Kat said, disgusted. Jade shook her head.

Daphne came up to them. "Hey girls! Like the new look?"she asked.

"She's joking, right?" Jade asked looking at her other friends. "How did your mom feel about it?"

"She can't choose everything I wear and do. I am my own person. You girls, should find a new leader, because I am out of your stupid exclusive club,"Daphne called. The girls stared at her as she ran to class.
