"So," Robyn said as we walked to school. "New Year, new us, huh?"
"Ro, please that's so cliche. We've practically been the same since ninth grade."
"Yeah but this year will be different right? I'll be able to drive us to school soon enough and we won't have to walk anymore." Robyn smiled.
"Robyn, you got your license suspended a countless amount of times. When have you gotten in your car and not been stopped by the police? How did you even get your license?"
"That doesn't matter, I'll be able to drive again soon."
"With me in the car? No thanks. You've been pulled over way too many times."
"It won't be that bad! I've only gotten my license suspended seven times!"
"Ro, listen to what you just said. Seven times! You're seventeen! You got your car like ten months ago."
"Um at least I have a car." Robyn rolled her eyes.
"I'm not having this argument again." I said. Let's get to class, I hate being late."
* * * * * * *
"Good morning, class."
"Good morning." The class mimicked back.
"Welcome to a new year, a new you."
"I told ya." Ro whispered next to me.
"As if." I rolled my eyes.
"You will have the greatest year in this class, I mean it."
I heard kids snickering in the back of the class. Probably the starting of Stephen Wilson.
"I'm sorry Stephen, is there something you would like to share?"
Was I right or was I right?
Stephens face expression turned from "that was hilarious" to mixture of "holy crap I've been caught and how the hell did she know my name?"
"No, no sorry."
"You should be. You disrupted my teaching. Lunch detention for you, Stephen."
Stephen sat there speechless while the kids around him snickered at him.
"Detention in the first ten minutes of class on the first day. I think he broke my record." Ro said next to me.
"You'll do better next year." I made a face at her.
"Haha." She made a face back. "Next year."
