A soft river of moonlight glided through the dusty window onto Elena's palm and slowly took the form of a silver rose with details worthy of an experienced artist. Titania stared at the silver rose in awe and reached out her small hand and with a small finger gently carassed the rose, afraid that if she touched it to hard, it would ceased to exist.
Elena smiled and said softly. "Now Tania. Why don't you try?" She asked the child as she reached out and gently took Titania's hands. "Concentrate on what you want and it will come." Elena whispered softly. Titania nodded slowly and closed her eyes softly and started whispering to herself.
Elena looked at the moonlight on the windowsill expecting it to glow and start twirling in the air like soft a mist. But the moonlight stayed still, not even glowing with Titania's voice.
Elena wondered why it wasn't answering the mummurs of her little sister. Any princess should have gained the ability to manipulate moonlight at a young age. Titania was of the royal blood, there was no doubt about that. Elena herself had assisted her mother in the birth of Titania, she was absolutely sure she was her blood sister.
As Elena stared at the moonlight deep in thought, Titania opened her eyes to see the the inky black of the shadows slowly creeping towards her and pooling into her small hands and slowly accumulating and building up. The sensation tickled her palm and she let out a soft giggle as the liquid shadow swirled around in her cupped hands. Titania tilted her hand and a reflection of the cresent moon appeared on the black surface, making it shimmer.
Elena who had noticed the gleam of the reflection in the swirling shadows let out a small gasp and stared at the reflection of the moon swimming on the surface of the shadow. "Tania... Does... Does it hurt?" She asked in a hoarse voice to which Titania replied with a simple shake of her head and smiled swishing the shadow in her hands. "It tickles." Titania said as she let the shadows flow back under the bed.
Elena blinked back tears as she smiled softly and tucked Titania into bed,"I never thought the shadows would claim her..." Elena whispered as her fairy shimmered into existance "the shadows come for her, she will change things." It whispered as it sat on her shoulder. "So it begins. May the gods bless her." Elena said as she gave the sleeping Titania a kiss on the forehead and slowly closed the door.
"For what comes next. Shall either bring light to this kingdom... Or drown it in darkness." Elena said as her fairy leapt off her shoulder to spread the message.
