-Elodie-

I wake up with a pounding headache and my face buried into plum-colored silk pillows. Where am I? I turn my body around in the giant bed to see that I'm in someone's bedroom- probably Joker's. It's a rather large size, with a few windows and a few pieces of artwork hanging up on the hunter green walls. It's just like any other room, besides the bold color scheme. I sit up and put my incredibly messy hair into a high ponytail before sliding off the bed (it was a bit too high up and keep in mind I'm short) and look down at my clothing. I'm still wearing the baby pink dress that I had on when I was captured. Most people would be mad about what happened to me if they were in my shoes, but to be honest, I'm not that bothered. I have no family and no close friends- it's just me in my little apartment. Plus I've always been oddly fascinated with the Joker. I guess now would be my time to learn more.

I walk out of the room to see a long hallway with a staircase at the end. All of the doors in the hall were closed, so I walk down the spiral stairs. "She's up, Boss," I hear a low, raspy voice say quietly as I make it to the last step. I walk out to the living room where a few people, including Joker was. As soon as he sees me he stands up with a grin, walking over to me.

"Ah, yes! Good morning, Dollface." He takes my head in his hands and kisses my forehead. "How did you sleep?"

"F-Fine," I stutter, nervously playing with my fingers as I look up at him. He was still wildly grinning at me, making me even more nervous. He takes a step closer, if that's even possible, and leans down so his mouth is right next to my ear.

"Do I scare you, sweet pea?" He whispers, causing chills to run all over my body. All I can do is shake my head. He lets out a soft chuckle before whispering again. "Are you sure about that?" I quickly nod.

"Yes," I assure him, looking down at my bare feet. "It's just.. I don't want to get hurt, by anyone," I say as I look around at his men. Joker backs up and pushes a strand of hair that fell from my ponytail out of my face.

"No one's gonna hurt you, Dollface. Unless you try to hurt one of us first. Notice how I said try; we don't get hurt." He snaps his fingers and the men begin to file out. "Come on," he says as he walks out of the house.

"Wait!" I shout, running after him. "Where are we going?" Everyone gets into a black van and one of his men hands me a pistol. "Woah," I say, shaking my head. "I don't do guns."

"It's self defense, Doll. You don't have to shoot anyone unless you really need to," Joker assures me, and I slowly take it. "We're just going to take care of a little business, is all. We'll be in and out of there in no time."

A few minutes later the van stops and Joker turns to me as his men hop out. "Stay here, okay?" I nod. "Don't come out unless me or one of my men tells you to." He turns to leave but I grab his arm.

"I don't want anything bad happening to you," I say. His face softens, expressing a look I've never seen on him before. I don't even know how to explain it.. confusion, mixed with admiration? I can't put a name to it. He kisses my forehead and jumps out of the car.

"I'll be fine, Dollface. I'm the Joker, remember?" He shuts the door behind him and I firmly grip the pistol in my hand. "You seem to replace your brain with your heart," I softly sing to myself, looking around the dark van. Extra guns and what looked like explosives were neatly placed in the front behind the drivers and passengers seat. Just as I was beginning to ease, the door swings open, making me jump a little.

"Elle," one of the men says, panting. "Come quick. We need backup." My eyes widen and I get out of the van, looking around. We were parked in a dark alley. "This way!" He shouts, running past me. I quickly follow him as he turns a corner which lead to yet another alley. All of the other men were on the floor and a large man in a mask was standing a few feet away from Joker, aiming a gun at him. Another man in a mask shot the one who came and got me. I cover my mouth and gasp, tearing up as he falls to the cement.

"Any last words?" The man says to Joker. I run out from the shadows and stand in front of Joker.

"Don't shoot!" I plead, my body trembling.

"Dollface, what are you doing?" Joker harshly whispers from behind me.

"Aww, how cute. You think you can save him? He's already dead," the man laughs. "Are you really willing to die for him?"

"No," Joker whispers. "Use your gun."

"Yes," I say a little louder, trying my best to seem sure of myself. The man slowly shakes his head, taking a step closer.

"Elle," Joker warns before a gunshot is heard making me squeeze my eyes shut, waiting for the pain. But nothing comes. I slowly open my eyes again to see all of the "dead" men standing up, looking at me as if I'm crazy. Which I suppose I am, since I was going to give up my own life for the Joker's. The man with the gun lifts his mask to reveal one of Joker's top men. What is going on?! I turn around to face Joker, who just has the most surprised look on his face. Unable to hold it in, I start crying, hiding my face in my hands. I feel arms around me as an attempt to comfort me. "Why are you crying?" He asks softly. I sniffle, wiping my eyes.

"Please don't ever do that to me again."

"I just wanted to see if you'd kill for me, Doll. I never expected you to be willing to die for me." I take a few steps back, handing him the gun.

"It's not in me to kill anyone." With that, I turn around and head back to the car, a little angry. I'm just glad everyone was actually okay. I sit in the back of the van, waiting for everyone to come in so we can leave.

-Joker-

Everyone's silent on the way back home. I just couldn't believe this girl. She was alone in the van, unguarded. I know she's smart enough to figure out that she could've escaped, but she didn't. She saw that I was in trouble and came to save me. She had a brand new pistol in her hand that she easily could've shot the masked man while remaining hidden, but she didn't. She was willing to stand in front of what she thought was a real loaded gun and take her life to save mine. No one, not even Harley, has done that for me. The car stops and everyone gets out except Elle. I smile at her, holding my hand out. "Come on, Dollface. We've gotta get you dolled up." She looks at me, a confused look expressed across her soft features.

"Dolled up for what?" She takes my hand and I help her out of the van, making our way up the steps of the house.

"We have a Bat to catch."

(A/N: Okay, I know this chapter is short, but hey, it's longer than the last one. I'm going to schedule my placement test at my community college in a few hours so I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to post another chapter, but I'll try!! Thanks for reading, let me know what you think so far!)
