Sans shuffled through the snow in Snowdin's Forest. He was heading off to his booth to sell hotdogs, as usual. The forest was quiet, mind the little howls of the breeze. He had brought along some cooked hot dogs to sell and he gripped them tighter. A Gyftrot trotted onto the path and Sans stopped to let it bound across. He continued on, the footsteps of his pink slippers almost becoming a rhythm now. He tucked his hands, and the hot dogs, into the warm pockets of his blue winter coat and his head seemed to shrink into the fluff on the collar of his coat. He'd finally reached the snow covered, wooden booth after a little more walking and he strode in. Under the counter was a little shelf that held bottles of mustard, ketchup, relish, and hot dog buns. He set a bottle of mustard, two bottles of ketchup, and a container of relish onto the counter as well as the hot dogs and a few buns. He popped one of the ketchup bottles open and began to drink from it like a baby would drink from a bottle. He looked around in boredom. To the left of him was the path he took to get here. To the right of him was a little bridge that lead to a large, purple door to the Ruins. A friendly, motherly, female goat named Toriel lives there. She's the queen down here, along with the King, Asgore. Toriel didn't seem very fond of Asgore though, as she proceeded to break up with him since he wanted 7 human souls when he only needed 1. Sans and Toriel had been friends since Sans decided to practice some knock knock jokes on that very door. Toriel had answered and Sans had her dying of laughter. Sans sighed. He wanted Toriel to come through those doors and keep him company with puns, now. Sans checked on the hot dogs. They seem warm still, he thought and left them alone. He sighed and rested his elbow on the counter and planted his head in his hand. Suddenly, the purple door creaked open and Toriel walked out with a little human following behind. The human ran over to Sans's post and Sans sat up immediately.
"Hey there, kiddo!" He had to peek over his counter to see the girl. "Want a hot dog?" Toriel walked over as the little girl nodded her head. Her brown pigtails bounced as she nodded.
"Hello, Sans." Toriel greeted with a little wave.
"Sup, Tori." Sans replied. He grabbed a warm hot dog from the microwave and grabbed a bun from the shelf. He placed the hot dog in the bun.
"You look like a marshmallow!" The little girl says before Sans could ask about condiments. Toriel started giggling, covering her mouth with her hand. Sans looked offended for a second.
"Am I a very sweet marshmallow?" Sans asked, setting the hot dog on the counter for a moment.
"Aren't all marshmallows?" The girl replied, gazing up at Sans with bright brown eyes.
"But am I extra sweet?" Sans looked down at her. "By the way, want any mustard, or.. ketchup? Or relish?" He picked up the hot dog and pointed to the condiments.
"I want ketchup!" The girl yelled. "And you're more than sweet!" Toriel placed 100 Gold on the counter for Sans. Sans pushed the gold away.
"I don't need 100, but thanks. Hot Dogs only cost 5 Gold." He squirted some ketchup onto the hot dog. He handed the hot dog to the girl.
"Here ya' go, kiddo." Sans guessed that Toriel just noticed the tip jar, because she dumped 95 Gold into it. She handed the 5 Gold to Sans. Sans took the gold.
"Is that better?" Toriel asked, stepping back from the counter a little. "I have plenty of gold, so don't worry." She smiled.
"Thanks Tori. By the way.." He turned to the little girl. "What's your name? I bet calling you 'kiddo' all the time will get annoying."
"I'm Bella." Bella replied, smiling.
"Bella, huh." Sans repeated the name, smiling down at her. He picked up a separate ketchup bottle and drank from it. Hope she's not gonna go Genocide, Sans thought, squeezing the ketchup bottle slightly.
"How's Papyrus?" Toriel asked. Bella was eating the hot dog hungrily beside Toriel. Ketchup was smearing over her mouth.
"Good. Still getting annoyed by my puns. Now I know he doesn't like it when I tickle his funny bone." Toriel giggled again. Sans smiled as he watched Toriel laugh at his joke. The end of her purple dress seemed to be covered in snow, and a little damp, but the rest was perfect. Her eyes were shining like stars. She seemed to still have a warm smile planted on her face. She tilted her head, looking at Sans. Wait, was he staring at her? He shook his head and looked away.
"So, how much longer is your shift?" Toriel asked.
"Dunno what time it is," Sans replied, "but my shift gets over in the evening. Why are you asking?"
"Oh, I made some pie and I was wondering if you wanted to come over and have some." Toriel grabbed Bella as Bella started to climb Sans's counter, begging for hot dogs.
"Sure... I'll just tell Papyrus that I might miss dinner." Sans grabbed out a little phone from his pocket and started to text Papyrus. He set his phone on the counter.
"I can come now..." Sans offered, but Toriel stopped him.
"Work, Sans. I'll just leave so I won't keep you slacking off." Tori said and walked off with Bella. Sans was let down, but he tried not to show it. His phone buzzed and he looked down at it. Sure, Papyrus yells everything, but he even texts in all caps.
"I'M MAKING SPAGHETTI AND YOU DECIDE TO MISS IT!" Papyrus had texted. Sans picked up his phone and texted back.
"Toriel invited me over for pie. And besides, we had spaghetti yesterday."
"TORIEL INVITED YOU, AND NOT ME?"
"Yea. But I could ask Tori if you can come with. Besides..."
"SANS DON'T YOU DARE..."
"You could put a little meat on your bones."
"OMG SANS, EVEN WHEN YOU TEXT YOU TELL STUPID PUNS."
"Yup. I'll text Tori, brb." Sans tapped out of Papyrus's and his conversation and went to Tori's and his.
"Hey, Tori, do you think Papyrus can come? Not to invite him over or anything but he really wants to come." Sans texted. It didn't take long for Toriel to text back.
"Of course, Sans. But get back to work." Toriel texted. Sans quickly told Papyrus that he could come.
Sans's shift ended and he hid his materials for hotdogs in the shelf below the counter. He grabbed his ketchup bottle and drank the rest of it. As Papyrus ran up to his post, Sans threw it at Papyrus.
"SANS, OW!" Papyrus rubbed the part of his head where the ketchup bottle hit him.
"You couldn't ketchup to me sooner?" Sans winked.
"BROTHER, OMG. I CAN'T BE WITH YOU FOR ONE MINUTE WITHOUT A PUN." Papyrus stormed off towards the door to the ruins. Sans followed, lagging behind.
