When his eyes were open for the first
With a cry loud he burst
Pucking in her mother's dear lap
He was amazed by the first snap
Of the world he stood upon
On a beautiful stage he had gone.
In his fifth birthday mask
To his mother, a question he did ask
O mother! What would I be given?
As a gift when I am seven
The mother dismissed the innocence with a smile
But passed by the clock's dial.
A pleasant year had passed away
But the next was not filled with gay
The boy had a cardiac arrest
And was sent to hospital for the test
It was a matter to worry about
For the doctors were in a doubt
He gently opened his eye
But this time he did not cry
He was saved by God's grace
But could not find her mother's face
He found a thing near his head
It was his mother's note, which read:
"Dear Son,
Now when you are seven
Happy birthday! With my gift given
My heart which now beats in you
For you have lots of things to do"
