Ray Davis is a pretty wealthy man. He is a founding partner of one of the biggest law firms in the U.S.A, Davis, Hastings, and Allen Law Firm. But this also made him a pretty big target to other law firms and he knew that. But because he knew this, he was very careful about every aspect of his life. No one knew about his family, except for his partner, Nick Hastings, All of his money was distributed between 5 banks between L.A. and Germany, and his wife, Lorraine,  knew about 4 of them. He had always had one hidden one just in case any thing happened to them or their marriage. Plus, if anything bad were to happen, he would want to be able to support his 3 boys. Chris was 15, Marty was 12, and Andy was 7. They were the loves of his life. But they were home-schooled so no one knew about them. It was sad that he couldn't let his kids make many friends or have a ton of fun, but it's what kept them safe. He takes such precautionary measures because just 10 years earlier, the third partner, Barry Allen, was killed. Everyone thinks it was just a car crash, except the firm. They all know that their top competing law firm, Harrison and Parker, had set up the whole thing and they paid off the cops to keep it a secret. So immediately after that, Ray decided to keep his life as hidden as possible, because if they knew about his family, they could target them, and if all his money was in one known bank, that could easily get taken. As much as he hated it though, his family wasn't happy. He wants to give his family a new, better life, but sadly, in order for that to happen, he would need to be dead.

"That's it" he whispers to himself, "I could fake my death!"

He went home that night and discussed it with his wife.

"Why would you even think about something like that?" She asks, almost angry.

"It could give all of us a new chance. You would get all of my money since I'm 'dead' and you could move, change your name, and raise our kids happily."

"But I don't want you to leave"

"If we do this, we could all have better lives, plus, we'd all have a decent amount of money."

"But all of your money, from all the banks will go to me."

"I have more money in a different bank under a different name, Schmidt Parker. As soon as I 'die' I'm going to get that money and live out a life as Schmidt Parker. I'll even get a little work done so no one recognizes me."

"So you're really serious about all this?" she asks, ready to cry.

"Sadly, yes. I wish it didn't have to be this way, but if I want all of us to have good lives, it must be done. You guys might be targeted if people knew you were related to me."

"You have to promise me one thing."

"And what's that?" he asks, a little suspiciously.

"You have to make sure to visit at least once every other year."

"What about the kids?"

"What do you mean?"

"The kids will think I'm dead."

"I'll say you're an old high school friend."

"It's settled then, now I just need to figure out how to do it."
