My stomach flipped as I heard my alarm clock chime out. It was my first day of college and I didn't know what to expect.

Hi there. I'm Maya Davidson. I'm 16 and a college student who loves music. All my life I've been labelled the good girl or the goody two shoes.

I've never understood that name.........goody two shoes. What's that supposed to mean?

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm shy and try not to get involved with the social drama life offers me. I prefer to get lost in my music, writing songs and practicing piano is where I love to be.

Most of my life I stuck with my best friend Laura, she shares similar likes to me but is very different. Despite being a brunette and me being a blonde, she's an incredibly popular girl who has her heart set on art. Laura is definitely much more laid back than me. She's always telling me to "take a chill pill" as I spend a lot of my time worrying about things. Growing up, I always wished I could be like her, she seems so relaxed and happy. And not to mention the attention from boys. They lingered round her like flies on day old chips. No matter what I did I could never seem to attract the attention of the male species.

The smell of pancakes tickled my nose as I pulled my hair up into a pony tail and quickly climbed into my clothes I had neatly laid out the night before. I raced downstairs to see my little brother Isaac already diving into his breakfast.
"Morning mum" i exclaimed.
"Good morning sweetie" she replied, lifting her head.
She walked over and kissed my forehead. Yes, I'm 16 but I can't contain my inner child half the time. It was an exciting day, my first day at college. Where had the time gone? The last time I lost track of time I was still singing in primary school assembly's. I hate big events but I does mean me and Isaac get mum's special pancakes!
"Beat you to breakfast!" Isaac said in a mocking way, knowing he would annoy me. Isaac is your normal younger brother, incredibly irritating. A catapulted a strawberry in his direction when I noticed mum wasn't looking. He might be annoying but he has always been there for me.

I finished up the last mouthful of Nutella before rushing out to my car. My mum stopped me before I could go any further. A tear began to fill her sparkly blue eyes.
"I can't believe my baby's off to college!" She said wrapping her arms around me. Normally I don't get very emotional, but today it hit me hard. We were now both standing, tears rolling down our cheeks. I'm surprised we didn't flood the kitchen!
"Not to ruin this heart warming moment" Isaac butted in sarcastically. "But you are late for your first day" he remarked. I immediately glanced at my watch.
"I cannot be late on my first day!" I called out before seeking one more hug from my mum and scrambling out the door.

I sang my heart out to 'Cake by the Ocean' as the car radio blared out. There was thirty minutes left till college and I was doing everything I could to take my mind of things. I really didn't like new places. I admired the golden leaves which were beginning to fall from the trees as September had just arrived. Pulling up into my best friends driveway, I saw Laura jumping up and down with excitement. She ran over to join me.
"Maya!" She exclaimed.
"Laura!" I shouted back.
"We can finally call ourselves college kids!" She said excitedly. I felt my stomach churn again but managed to send a smile in her direction.
"Aren't you excited?" She replied, cottoning on to my misery.
"Just a little nervous, that's all" I said back. She gave me a hug before joining me in my car.

After finally arriving at the college, it was a bit of a relief. Now that I could see the other students my stomach stopped hurting and I was finally starting to relax. For a moment I stood in front of the entrance. I gazed up at the building. This was where I would spend most of the next three years. I took a deep breath and continued inside.

After a long mission, Laura and I finally found our lockers. We emptied our belongings into it before being joined by Laura's boyfriend Max Taylor. He was tall with pale blond hair and freckles. We had known each other for a while and we're practically like brother and sister. Max wasn't too fond of how the other boys worshipped Laura-your usual protective boyfriend.

Looking around the halls I could already pick out the typical school stereo types:
The jock-football star, nauseatingly popular, always got the girls.
The cheerleader-so happy it's inhumanly possible, usually found locking lips with the jock.
The bully-meanest most annoying person there, avoid them as much as you can.
The geek-revolves there life around school and grades, hardly ever goes out to socialise. Okay, okay that ones me.
And last but certainly not least
the bad boy/girl-always trying to cause trouble, never cares what others think about them.
I thought that these stereo types would have vanished at college but I guess not.

I was suddenly startled and snapped out of my gaze as I heard the bell ring through the corridor.
