Chapter 1

It was a typical Friday night in the Gilmore house.
"Lorelai!" Emily Gilmore yelled from outside her bedroom door.
"What?" Lorelai replied whilst yanking open her wooden door to find her mother there holding a rail of white dresses.
"Mom, no." Lorelai told her mother whilst yet again shutting her bedroom door. Emily suddenly barged in and immediately began shouting at her daughter. Over the years, this had happened a countless amount of times which in time, Lorelai had learned how to tune out.
"You done?" Lorelai questioned her mother after she tuned back in.
"Honestly Lorelai, learn some manners, your attitude is appalling!" Emily roared whilst Lorelai rolled her eyes and flung herself backwards onto her bed. Emily exited the room and slammed the door whilst Lorelai began to try and think of how many disgraceful things she could do in one night in full disrespect of her mother.

Lorelai got up and picked up the phone and pressed in her boyfriend's number.
"Hello?" Christopher said as he picked up the phone. "Hey, it's me." Lorelai replied. Christopher had been her boyfriend since she the age of 14. Due to the fact that Lorelai was the exact opposite of what was expected of her, their whole relationship happened when she stormed up to Chris and kissed him because she wanted to know what it was like. Turns out,  Christopher had fancied Lorelai for a while and ended up kissing her back which ended up in them going out.
"What's up?" He asked Lorelai.
"Are you busy tonight?" Lorelai questioned Christopher, hoping that the answer was no.
"I have nothing planned, how come?" He asked.
"Meet me round on my balcony in 20 minutes." She told him. "Oh, and bring the alcohol." She added.
"Sure thing, see you in 20." Christopher replied and ended the call.

20 minutes later, Lorelai heard leaves ruffling below. As she opened the doors to her balcony, she looked over and saw Chris half the way up. In no time at all, he was standing on the balcony with 3 bottles of straight up vodka. Lorelai smiled and shared a passionate kiss. "Pour me a drink." She said to Chris with a smirk. "No problem." He replied as Lorelai locked her door.

Many drunken hours later, Lorelai woke up to find Chris cuddling up to her and nuzzling into her neck.
"Good morning." Chris whispered as he kissed down the top of her back.
"Ugh." She cried out as a beam of the rising sunlight pierced her pupils. Urgently, she turned over to face Chris.
"Good Morning." Lorelai said with a smile whilst she put her arms around his neck and kissed him. Suddenly, she began to feel incredibly ill. "Uh oh." She muttered, resting her head on Chris' shoulder. Lorelai quickly grabbed the sheet, covered herself up and made a run for the bathroom. Thankfully in this case, she had mega rich parents who insisted she had her own bathroom attached to her bedroom. Lorelai continued to throw up constantly for at least half an hour whilst Christopher sat next to her on the bathroom floor and comforted her. Lorelai slowly got up a while later and rinsed her face to wake herself up and brushed her teeth. She reached into her cupboard and popped out some aspirin before continuing to get ready and look presentable for breakfast. Christopher called his house number and told his father, Straub, that he had gone over to his friends house and drifted off, which was only a partial lie. Due to the lecture he got from his father, he grabbed his coat and gave Lorelai a meaningful kiss before leaving the way he first came in.

Lorelai applied appropriate make-up to try and cover up how hungover and pale she looked before hearing the new maid, Klaudia, knocking on her door to tell her that her parents wanted her down for breakfast.
"Coming!" She shouted.
"Here we go again." Lorelai sighed before unlocking the door and traipsing down the stairs.
"Nice to see you." Emily mocked whilst Lorelai shook off her comment, trying to keep calm. Emily pushed a cup of peppermint tea in front of Lorelai. "Wonderful hangover cure." She chimed in as Lorelai's face scrunched up, knowing she'd been caught.
"So dad, anything new in the newspaper today?" She asked him, changing the subject and giving her mother a look of disgust every now and then.
"There's always something new in the newspaper Lorelai, please be more specific." Richard asked his daughter half-heartedly. "Can we get any conversation flowing at this table!" Lorelai shouted. "Lorelai!" Emily replied. "Sit down immediately!"
"No!" Lorelai barked as she took the last swig of the vile concoction her mother had told Kludia to whip up. "Why can't we be a normal family for once in our lives and communicate?" Lorelai's question made Richard put down his newspaper for a second before looking at it again a few seconds later.
"Exactly my point!" Lorelai shouted as she pointed at her father and began to walk towards the front door.
"Be back before seven for your dress fitting!" Emily shouted.
"Yeah whatever." Lorelai replied before slamming the door.

When Lorelai was in a bad mood or somebody was getting on her nerves, which happened a lot, she would hop on a bus any stop at any place that was seemingly tranquil and quaint. Lorelai hopped on the next bus that arrived at the stop and sat down on a dusty seat. In a way, Lorelai missed this growing up. Only recently had she ever been on a bus due to the fact her parents scowled whenever they heard any sort of public transport. However, she didn't complain about such luxury, such as the Jag, as she knew how lucky she was to be able to afford a vehicle that expensive but she hated all the fuss that came along with it.

A sudden ring of a bell suddenly drew her out of a daydream. Lorelai looked out of the window as the bus started slowing to a halt. She figured it seemed unusual and different and decided to hurriedly jump off. The bus closed its doors and swiftly drove off leaving Lorelai inhaling the fumes and trying to figure out where she was. The bus journey was no longer than an hour, she figured, so it must be Connecticut. Lorelai strolled further down the road until a sign came into vision.
"Welcome to Stars Hollow!" It read in bold, italic lettering. Lorelai had only heard of this town once when it was mentioned in relation the Beacon Falls. 'I like it here.' Lorelai thought with a smile. She decided to explore the quaint little town to see what it contained. As Lorelai reached the town centre, she noticed a place which looked like a diner. Considering she hadn't eaten since dinner the previous night, Lorelai decided that she needed to keep up her strength and headed towards the diner.

Lorelai pushed open the door and sat down on an ivory white chair at the breakfast counter. Lorelai opened up the menu and was surprised by the amount of mouthwatering dishes that flew at her which her parents would never let her eat in a million years. For an extremely strange reason, Lorelai began eyeing up the salads in an un-Lorelai fashion.
"Hey, can I get you anything?" A gruff voice asked her.
"Oh hey." She replied, as he gave her a fright. "I'll have the Caesar salad please." She ordered. "Sure thing." The man replied.
"Oh, and some coffee."
"Please tell me you're not another budding coffee addict." He asked with a grimaced face.
"Sorry to burst your bubble." She replied with a smirk whilst he sighed.
"I'm Luke, the owner of this place. Are you new around here?" He asked her.
"I'm Lorelai." She said."Yeah, Luke's diner kinda gave it away. I'm just visiting for the day." She continued. "I live in Hartford."
"Hartford. Wow." Luke said, a little too enthusiastically.
"Yeah, home of the most stuck-up, obnoxious people you'll ever meet." Lorelai joked as Luke placed her food on the counter and began to fill her cup with his 'hellish beverage.'

Lorelai continued sitting and eating until she was on her 5th coffee refill and decided it was time for her to get the bus back.
"Nice to meet you Luke, maybe we'll meet again." She said with a smile as she walked out of the diner.
"Yeah, maybe." Luke muttered under his breath as he watched her walk away into the distance. Something about her made him feel different; refreshed even. Luke suddenly snapped out of his thoughts and was ambushed by many orders all at once.

Lorelai decided to go another way to the bus stop so she could see the rest of the town. As she turned the corner, she saw a wooden oak barn in the middle of the square. Just as she started walking up to it, she overheard a woman barking out corrections whilst blasting out music. Lorelai walked past, noticing that it must have been a dance studio. She picked up on a woman staring at her and hurried to the next bus stop she saw. Just as the bus pulled up, she realised that she only had a limited amount of time until her parents would send out a search party. On Lorelai's journey home, she reminisced about the day she had. Altogether, the town seemed like her utopia. She decided that she wouldn't tell anybody about this place as she wanted to keep it to herself. Lorelai didn't really have anything which was just hers, even Christopher wasn't just hers as both of their parents were in contact with each other. Luke seemed to be an interesting character. Who would open a diner, full of junk food, but be a total health freak? Obviously just Luke.

Lorelai Pushed in the bell to stop the bus as it approached her stop. Quickly, she jumped off the bus and made her way home with 15 minutes to spare before her mother would begin to bombard her with white dresses for the debutante ball which wasn't for another 10 weeks at least.

"I'm home." Lorelai shouted as she gave her coat to Klaudia.
"Good." Emily said as she grabbed her daughters arm and lead her upstairs. "Now come along." Emily continued.
