A/N: this entire book will be in Dan's POV. Enjoy!
Phil and I had a rough tour, I was resting that night, scouring the phan tag. It was usually a joke, Phan was real but people didn't know. A few friends had had the confirmation, but our fans had no idea for the most part. I just found it funny to go through the tag and see what people had thought about us, see their phan theories and what they believed was "proof".
Most of their theories were ridiculous, but a lot of them were true. Like the ones where they'd occasionally catch us holding hands in a photo, I liked holding Phil's hand in public. Either our fans knew too much, or they knew too little. We never had given out any confirmation we were together. Well after our fights in 2012 and almost moving away from another, we decided that the best option was being together without mentioning it to anyone but close friends.
So, when I was scrolling down the tag and saw an alarming title labeled "YouTubers danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil are gay, and a couple!", I was admittedly shaken up. It was a joke it had to be. I clicked it quickly, calling Phil in to let me read the article to him, it was probably a joke, we could laugh about it together.
After he nestled himself into me, I began reading the article, "YouTube stars danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil have been revealed as a gay COUPLE on July 31st, 2016, by a close friend. When asked if they could reveal anything about the two, the friend revealed they have seen the two together, kissing and cuddling, and the pair have also admitted to said person to being a couple. The person in question asks not to be revealed. The close friend reveals that Dan Howell and Phil Lester are actually married! Their wedding taking place in Japan, where Dan Howell is actually Dan Lester, according to said report. Congratulations to the newlyweds, Dan and Phil Lester!"
When I stopped, my voice was shaky, and Phil had paled in comparison to his normal shade. Someone had outed us? A close friend at that? "Phil. What do we do?" I asked.
He heaved a sigh, his breath hitching, "check Twitter? See if anyone has seen it? The phandom is fast, but surely they haven't seen the article that quickly," he laughed, it held absolutely no reassurance for me.
So, I logged into Twitter.
I wasn't ready for the kind of response already filling my mentions.
A/N: okay this chapter was short only because I needed to set the scene and I'm getting Twitter handles. Leave comments because I'm writing the second chapter immediately after this!
For some reason this doesn't want to post on Twitter sorry for the consuming time this has been for everyone

OUTED.
FanfictionI scoured Tumblr that night in the phan tag. It was a joke. Up until I saw the article about Phan being real. It said someone had outed us. Someone we knew. Was this a joke?
