"Veronica!" I hear being called from behind me as I'm leaving the school building. I turn around to see my best (and only) friend Erin.
"Whaaaat?" I yell back as she runs up to me, breathless.
"Wait up! You walk too fast," she says inbetween breaths.
I roll my eyes and laugh as we walk out of the school. I walk slowly next to her so she can catch her breath.
As we walk down the street I see a boy who I've never seen before walk on the other side of the street, he's tall and pale. He looks over at us and smirks, I can feel my face burning as it turns bright red. I look away quickly.
"Who is that guy?" I ask Erin, maybe she knows him.
"I don't know, I think he's new at school. I haven't seen him until today," she replies.
"Do you know his name?"
"Yeah, I think his name is Milo," Erin informs.
Milo... Like Milo Aukerman. Cute.
We make our way to my house and walk through the hall into my bedroom. The entire walk I was thinking of that boy Milo. What is he like? Is he new? Where is he from?
"Hey... Are you okay? You seem really quiet," Erin says out of nowhere
"Huh? Oh, uh, yeah, I'm fine," I reply awkwardly.
"You sure?" Erin asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah yeah, I'm great."
I put on some music, The Smiths, obviously. Erin sits there silently as I sing along to Girl Afraid.
girl afraid,
where do his intentions lay?
or does he even have any?
she said, "he never really looks at me,
I give him every opportunity."
"Why do you love Morrissey so much?" Erin asks after the song ends.
"Have you seen him?" I say, pointing to a picture taped to my wall of the beautiful singer, I moved my finger towards that picture so fast.
"Yeah but what's so great about him?" She asks, staring at me with confused eyes from behind her thick glasses.
I look at her with an annoyed expression on my face as I tell her everything I know about Morrissey.
"Dang, okay... Stalker much?" She says
"There are Moz fans who are more obsessed than me, dude."
"Whatever," Erin says, rolling her eyes.
No matter how much I talk about Morrissey, I still can't stop thinking about Milo. He had such nice, floppy hair, I bet it's soft. I wonder what kind of music he likes. I turn to Erin, "so about Milo," I begin.
"Ughhh do you have another crush? On a boy you've never met?" she says, obviously annoyed.
"No! Well, I don't know, what kind of music do you think he likes?" I reply, hoping for some answers.
"How would I know?" she says
"Come on, E! I asked for what you think he likes, not what he for sure likes. Goth? Punk? I want answers!"
"Ugh, I don't know. Probably the same as you."
"You think?"
"Yeah, maybe."
We'll see, I'll ask him tomorrow.
Erin gets up off of my bed, "well, I'm out! Good luck with your boy troubles."
"Thanks, I'll see you tomorrow." I say, giggling.
"Byye!" she smiles big and closes the door fast behind her.
I flop down onto my bed, his name is spinning around my head, I need to get my mind off of things. I sit up and walk over to my CD player and replace Louder Than Bombs by The Smiths with Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain. I lay in bed and listen to the songs, paying attention to every lyric, every word. When I can't quite let out my feelings, I listen to other people express theirs.
I wrote this in like an hour and it's kinda boring but it'll get better I swear thx lov u
