Sweat dripped down my forehead as I struggled against the arms pinning me. I try to think about all the ways I can get out, but my brain refuses and the only thing I can think about is the panic slowly engulfing me.
"St -stop!" I gasp and the arms around me immediately slacken as I sink down to the ground taking in huge gulps of air.
"Aaliyah, dear you just need to work a little on your defence that's all. You were very good today. Lasted twelve minutes. "The stern but soft voice of my dad says.
"I'll work on it dad, thanks. " I say as I accept the bottle of water from him.
He too, is sweaty.
"Now, go get ready for college honey you don't want to be late on the first day, Tristin will be here soon." He says smiling, offering me a hand.
I go up to my room and pull an oversized t-shirt on top of my shorts. Perks of living in a small town where only a few people attended college? You dont have to try too hard with your looks.
I go down to the kitchen to make me and dad some breakfast.
Just as i'm finishing mine a loud honk sounds signifying that Tristin is here. I give my dad a quick hug and then run out.
"So how was the session today?"he asks as I slide into the car.
"Beaten for the 500 and fiftieth time."
"Don't worry, you'll get there."he says with a smile.
We ride in silence for most of the ride, the both of us probably too nervous to talk, finally I say "I'm so terrified. How am I going to make new friends when I'm such an introvert?? "
"The same way we became friends?"He says smiling slightly then adding "It may take you longer time to make friends but it doesn't mean you won't make them. Don't overthink it, you'll be fine besides you've always got me I don't even know anyone else around here."
I smile at him gratefully. I've only known Tristin for a couple of months after he shifted in the house next to mine because the school in which he would've continued his college studies had been badly damaged due to some "freak accident" , but it felt like I'd known him since years. He was an easy person to get to know and have a good laugh with. He was cute, you could say with light blue eyes and light sandy peppered hair. The first day he came over to our house he brought ice cream with him and that made me immediately like him.
Once we reached the college, I made my way towards the office to enquire about the arts class I wanted to take up.
Fighting was my favorite stress-relieving activity and I looked forward to becoming a police officer, like my dad but painting and sketching made up my personal heaven. I could fight a hundred different wars, return with the burden of the guilt of killing millions and forget all about it the moment my pencil touches the page. It was my solace.
After enrolling myself I looked at my timetable. 3 classes I had to sit through till the break. Tristin had already left for his class after wishing me luck.

Making my way towards the canteen, I looked around while wondering where the hell Tristin disappeared when I heard him calling out my name. I turned to see him making his way towards me with a huge smile plastered on his face.
"So? How was it?" He asked and without waiting for me to answer he continued
" I met this -"
Tristin cut off whatever he was saying and stopped dead in his tracks causing me to bump into him. A look of complete surprise on his face, which was focused on something or someone behind me.
"No way... It can't be."
