Knock, knock, knock.
Dean banged the door with his fist, probably a little too hard. He stood in a small hallway, lined with apartment doors. Cas and Sam stood behind him; he could feel their gazes on the back of his head.
Cas leaned forward. "Remember, we don't know what he is. Just be careful."
Dean nodded. They went silent as they heard footsteps from the other side, coming closer. The doorknob turned and a man appeared. He had dark brown eyes, and messy, silver white hair. He looked tired, like he had just gotten home after a long day. "Hello." he said tersely. "Is there something I can help you guys with?"
Dean reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a fake bug exterminator card. He heard Cas and Sam follow his example, ignoring Cas fumbling slightly to pull out his card. He put on a smile. "We are checking apartments for termite infestations."
"Termites?" the man furrowed his brows. "I didn't know the building was being checked. And you three don't look much like exterminators." he eyed Sam and Dean's leather jackets and Cas's long trench coat.
"We were notified by the manager this morning, sir." Sam said. "They said that certain parts of the building had some pretty nasty termites inside the walls. We had to get here as soon as possible, and we don't exactly carry our exterminator outfits around." He offered a smile.
"We just need to check the walls, see if they are there or not." Dean said. "In and out, ten minutes tops. And don't worry, we don't need to break any walls unless there are termites."
The man relaxed slightly and nodded, opening the door all the way. The apartment was pretty clean. But that wasn't what Dean was concerned about. The three of them went to different walls in the house. When they heard the door close and lock they turned to the man. He didn't seem fazed at all.
"What do you want?" he asked, his tone dangerously low.
"Come on, I was enjoying being an exterminator." Dean pretended to complain. "Break down some walls, and not even have to get away with anything."
"How did you know?" Sam asked.
The man shrugged. "Oh, just that little tattoo I noticed when you walked in right here." he patted right below his collarbone. Where Sam and Dean's demon protection tattoos were.
"Should I even ask how the heck you knew that?" Dean asked.
Malcolm smiled. "This one is funny." he stared at Dean. "And sorry, no can do. One of my little secrets."
Dean so badly wanted to aim his gun at the man, but Sam would want to talk first. And that is what he did. "We know about the murders, and we tracked them to you." Sam said calmly. "The thing is, we don't know what you are. But you sure as hell aren't human."
The man smirked, pretending to put his arms in the air. "Oh no, the mundanes got me. What are you gonna do?"
Cas squinted, the way he always did when he was trying to crack someone's shell. "Mundanes?" He said, covering the curiosity in his voice. Dean hadn't ever been referred to as a 'mundane' before either.
The man laughed. "You think you know so much, when you barely know anything at all. Hell, you don't even know what I am!"
The angel blade came out of the coat arm into Cas's hands in a flash. The man's smile lessened. "An angel? I guess I did sense something different about you."
Click. Dean's gun was out, pointed at the man, hand on the trigger. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Sam pull his gun out too.
"I'll give you one shot, no pun intended." Dean said. "Who are you?"
The man smiled. "Malcolm. Malcolm Fade. And may I ask the same to you?"
"Sorry, no can do." Sam said. Malcolm frowned, glaring at Dean's brother. "All you need to know is that we will kill you, if you try to fight back."
Malcolm sighed. "Fine. Then I guess we will have to do this the hard way." It was then Dean noticed blue sparks surrounding the man's hands. He knew the others were looking too.
"What are you?" Cas said, holding up his angel blade.
"I'm called a warlock, genius." Malcolm smiled. "To be more specific, I am the High Warlock of Los Angeles." he scoffed. Dean had lost his patience. He pulled the trigger, a silver bullet fired right at his heart. Malcolm snapped his fingers, blue sparks filling the air. The bullet veered to the left, hitting the wall behind him.
A warlock? Dean turned to Sam, but saw the same confused look in his eyes. Cas looked like he didn't seem to know either.
"Only witches can perform magic like that, not even they can do something that powerful." Cas said in a dangerous tone. He ran toward Malcolm, who stood there with blue sparks weaving around his fingers. He swiftly moved his arms around, and pushed his hand out, a bolt of blue hitting Cas in the head. Cas fell, and the angel blade rolled out of his hand. He tried to stand, and then cried out, grabbing his head, and sank back to the floor again.
"What did you do to him?" Dean yelled. He fired the remaining bullets in his gun. More blue sparks. Malcolm still remained untouched.
Sam ran at him, dodging a bolt of blue and slashing him across his arm with a pocket knife. Malcolm wiggled his fingers and fired another bolt at Sam, which then left him clutching his head. But that had also left Dean time to run at Malcolm.
Malcolm turned from Sam, another ball of swirling blue in his hands. Before Dean could move the blue light went right at his face, knocking him down. Dean, like Sam and Cas, tried to stand but felt an unbearable pain weaving through his head, towards his eyes. With fuzzy vision he managed to see Malcolm swirl his arms to make a purple blur, some type of portal, and he stepped inside. Malcolm turned to him. His eyes flashed purple, and the the glowing wall winked away in a flash with the warlock in it. Dean's vision was filled with blue and then black as he fell to the ground.
Hey guys! I'm working on another fanfic haha; this is a combination of Supernatural and Shadowhunters/TMI, TID, TDA! These are probably my top two favorite fandoms, and I hope that you guys like the combination of the two! Idk how much I will get accurate, I have done a bit of research but I might twist things up a bit. I hope you enjoy this! I also don't have a permanent title for this story; I just started writing.
