Assuming that this is pick the one you'd rather be, I'd choose companion. I've always wanted to visit new places and see new things, and with being a companion you get that. You find out about all these new worlds and people, and form a bond with the Doctor. Although I'd probably die a painful and sad death but it'd be worth it.
