I walk faster, cool; stale city air filling my lungs. The sun begins to sink behind wallowing dark clouds as a particularly startling shiver runs up my spine.
I hear ominous footsteps behind me and I decide to brush it off thinking my overactive imagination is getting the better of me. I mean what's the worst that could happen?
I shudder again.
"Bit late for a girl your age to be wandering 'round these parts 'specially at this time o' night 'innit?" a rough voice mutters.
I quicken my pace, I shouldn't have stayed in the school library studying so late. It's not like I care about doing well in class anymore, nor does my crack whore mum or rich uptight dad and his multitude of girlfriends I quite frankly wouldn't be surprised he surreptitiously pays for.
I break into a swift run while trying to pull my phone out of my pocket, the strange man's heavy breathing yet more prominent as he struggles to evidently follow my no longer visible existence amongst the empty deep gloom.
My cell finally comes loose from my school blazer pocket when I remember...
