Chapter Two: Let Go

I was sitting in a dark room for a while, listening to crying and sirens. It was scary.

It was quiet for a while after that. A man was telling me to 'hang in there' and that was about all I heard for a bit.

Then Mommy and Daddy's quiet voices were echoing through the black room.
Daddy started to talk to me.

"Caleb, I've got you. You're in Dad's arms. It's all going to be okay, right? It's all going to be okay."

The sound of footsteps were next.

Billy's P.O.V.

"Katie, Billy," a nurse said. "I know this is going to be hard,"

Katie and squeezed my hand.

"I've noticed that Caleb's heartbeat rate is going down,"

The room blurred, it must've been my watery eyes.

"We're going to have to let him go."

My world broke. Tear after tear left my eyes as Katie reached over for a hug.

Nothing was ever going to be the same.
