Prologue
"I'm sorry Kaname...your lovely wife Yuki... she has passed away. The birthing was far worse than we expected, we were unable to prevent the excessive bleeding. The baby on the other hand is very healthy and quite wanting of her father." said the doctor as he washed his hands.
"Kill the child at once! I do NOT want that creature!" said Kaname with such hatred as he was looking out the window with an irritated twitch of his tiger ear.
"Are you certain Kaname?" the doctor paused for a moment as he awaited a response. "I will take the baby with me. So you can think it over as I take care of another mother giving birth, too." The doctor washed the newborn as he spoke with a calm and respectful tone, hoping he could appeal to Kaname's compassionate side.
"Yes I'm sure, kill that demon child..." muttered Kaname as he glared his eyes in annoyance toward the doctor as he spoke in a low almost growling voice. Feeling the increasing tension the doctor replied with, "Ok...I will, but first please come with me, I have another patient to tend to beforehand. She must be taken care of before anything else." "FINE!" Kaname let out a frustrated shout, "But after, we take care of 'it'."
The Doctor finished washing up the newborn and gently placed it in a blanketed basket. Without a word the left the room, the doctor with basket in tow, walked down the hall passed three blue doors, stopping at a red door with a golden handle. "Just wait out here, Kaname."
The doctor entered the room to see a woman laying on a bed breathing hard with a look of anxiety and pain sewn across her face as a nurse tried to comfort her. The doctor carefully placed the basket down near to the door's opening but safely away from the swing of the door, and closed the door behind him. The nurse approached the doctor, handing him a fresh set of operating gloves. The doctor approached the the lady, carefully moving her orange and striped tail out of the way. "Ready to give birth Miku?" said the doctor with a gentle smile. Miku was unable to respond pushing in pain, "Now push Miku." he urged her as the head started to crown. The doctor grab the baby as it escaped Miku's womb. The doctor cut the cord, but noticed immediately... he somberly walked up to Miku's side and spoke as calmly as possible, "I'm sorry Miku, she didn't make it." Giving such new was never easy and it was impossible for him to mask his own distress.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Miku shreeked. Kaname busted the door down, "What happened!?"
Through her cries of sorrow Miku managed to speak in shutters, "D-d-doctor you m-must do something to s-s-save her!" Her eyes wide and seeking a shred of hope in the doctor's eyes. At this Kaname immediately understood and recomposed himself.
"I'm sorry Miku, there nothing I can do for her," the doctor unable to do more than apologize could only imagine the anguish Miku was feeling at this moment.
Miku noticed there was a crying baby in a basket next to the door, startled by Miku's sudden outburst. "Who child is that, doctor?" asked Miku through sobs and tears as she gestured toward the door. "That is his child," the doctor nodded to Kaname.
Kaname walk over to the basket, picked it up and handed it to the doctor and spoke, "She may have this child," The doctor handed the baby to Miku.
Feeling a whirlwind of emotions and confusion Miku managed to speak through her tears in a choking voice"Thank you, your majesty," She bowed her head as Kaname exited the room as suddenly as he had entered. Miku hug the baby gently, whispered, "I will love you as if you were my own..." in the baby's ear as tears flooded her cheeks, and too her warm embrace the infant began to calm to a pitiful whimper. The doctor smiled gently once again, looking at Miku and pointed to the nurse waiting patiently with paperwork.
