Not Expected

Chapter 6

~Have fun laser tagging tonight? I know I did

I just sat there staring at the screen with wide eyes. Maybe I'm just overreacting. It could be someone I know and accidentally deleted their contact.

If only I truly believed it. It's 8:00 in the morning and I didn't even get any sleep last night. All because of this stupid text! It's killing me. I'll just ask Rose when she gets up if she can match the number to any of her contacts.

5 hours later

Is she okay? I've left Rose alone for a while now and I'm starting to get worried. I sighed and began my journey up the stairs. When I got to Rose's room, yes she stays here so much that we've given her her own room, I knocked softly.

"Rose?" When she didn't respond I opened the door and didn't see her anywhere. "Rose?" I went to her bed and found a paper on her pillow.

Dear Jess,

I went back to my house-I could never call it home though-because I have gotten terrible news. I didn't want to wake you but hopefully by time you're reading this no one will be murdered. Anyway, as soon as you get this come down to mine.

Oh Rose. Even in the worst of your times you tend to find humor in any situation.

By time I got done reading the note, I already locked the door and had gotten my four-wheeler out and went flying down the road to her house.

She lived about a mile down the road, yet she was still my only neighbor.

I got there in no time and didn't waste any time running up to the house and stumbling through the door.

I could hear her crying all the way from down here. I ran up to the second floor and slammed through her door.

"Oh Jess" she cried opening her arms for a hug and I didn't waste any time before throwing myself onto her bed and hugging her.

"Its alright. I'm here" I soothed her while she just kept crying.

When she finally sobered up a little bit from her wailing I looked at her with a serious look.

"Whats the matter?" Even though I think I had a pretty good idea because he was the only one that could do this to her.

"Luke...Luke...he-he ch-cheated on me! He cheated on me with that whore Zoe!"

"Oh-oh my GOD! I'M GOING TO KILL THEM!" She looked at me with scared eyes because when I said I was going to do something, I meant business. "Sorry. I'm not going to actually kill them but I will be hurting them."

"Thanks. But you want to know why?" she said not even pausing for me to answer. "I had just told him I loved him on the phone last night. I couldn't wait any longer. He hung up with me and Chris sends me a video of them in the park last night making out! After 3 years of my time spent on him, he just throws it all out! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! After I told him I loved him! He could of talked to me but what does he do? He goes and kisses her!" She rants. And I let her. She needs to get this all of her chest.

"Can I ask you a question?" She nodded. "Does he know you know?"

"I don't know."

"All I need is one more thing. Does Zoe still live in Kimberly Park?" She nodded

I smiled "I'll be back."

"No! Jess! Wait!" but it was too late I hopped on my four-wheeler and floored it as fast as it would go. I look behind me and I see Rose actually smiling.
