[1] Desperation

Get away. Get away. Get away. Get away.

It was the only thing constantly running through Tori's mind as his feet carried him along the dark streets of London. Or well, at least he was trying to. The silver bullets firmly lodged within his abdomen was draining him of his abilities and hurting him beyond measure. The speed with which he ran now was slower than that of the average human. Laughable, really. A mighty vampire weaker than a mere human. His vision blurred considerably more with each passing second and he could hear the manic laughter from his pursuers behind him.

Ferals.

Nothing sent chills down Tori's spine more than what the ferals did. They were extremely difficult to fight, mostly due to their unpredictable nature and especially when they attacked in packs. Like they were doing right now. Their minds lost to the hunger and lust for power. These weren't "normal" ferals either. These had previously been vampire hunters. Probably captured by a clan of vampires, turned against their will and then starved for blood. It was ruthless and forbidden for a reason. Who could even have done such a monstrosity? It went against everything the vampire enclaves stood for.

Well, most of them anyways. There were always a few bad apples that wanted to wreak havoc, but they were always stopped in time before they could do any real damage. This was not far from it and Tori couldn't help but wonder why this hadn't been stopped before it became the mess it was right now.

Another shot rang out and Tori shouted in pain as it made contact with his shoulder. He could hear the skin sizzle and burn from yet another silver bullet. There was no way he could get rid of 8-9 ferals by himself and there was simply no possible way to escape from them either. He couldn't lead them into a street of people. They would only begin attacking innocents then and they wouldn't stop until everyone within the vicinity were dead or they were killed themselves.

A cackle beside him made him turn, only to be met by the red glowing eyes of the first feral hunter who had shot him. The wide grin on his face was contorted into an unnatural angle, far wider than any human could grin. A row of sharp teeth protruded from his mouth as he licked his lips. Then he pounced on Tori, sending him flying into the nearest brick wall before he even had time to react. His head took the brunt of it and Tori swore he could see stars for a few seconds.

"Get off!" He growled as he kicked the feral with all his remaining might. The feral hunter was sent flying away into the opposite wall of him. Tori got back up on his feet and limped away, still hearing the maniacal laughter closing in from the other ferals. He wasn't sure just how much further he could make it before they would catch him.

That's when he saw a person emerging at the end of the alley. He wanted to scream at them to get away but another loud bang behind immediately silenced any words he was trying to get out. Instead, he toppled over and fell to the ground gasping in pain. The stranger walked towards him at a leisurely pace. What on earth? It wasn't until the stranger was directly beside him that Tori realized just who this person was.

A vampire hunter.

Not a feral one, but the real deal. Chills went down his spine. He'd basically walked out of the frying pan and into the fire. The stranger had an unreadable expression on his face.

"Je suis désolé mes amis." He muttered, his stone mask cracking into sadness for a split second. Rapid shots were fired and screams from the ferals resonated through the alley. Soon enough silence descended upon them. The stranger clicked his tongue in annoyance before his gaze traveled to Tori lying severely wounded on the ground. He merely scoffed before turning around to leave again. Tori knew he wouldn't survive on his own, so he did something he thought he would never do. He latched onto the vampire hunter's arm. The man turned around with a harsh glare, trying to rip his arm out of the grip.
