"When did he get so hot?" my best friend Erika asked pointing at some dude in our grade that I had absolutely no clue even existed until 5 seconds ago.
"Ha! Where Erika, where do you see any hot guys at our school? The hottest thing here is the metal bench sitting outside." I said because honestly its so true. All the guys at our school look like ducks, but not the cute kind of ducks, no certainly not. I mean the ugly duckling type of ducks.
"hello, earth to Nicoletta." she snapped her fingers in my face. "Ducks where?" I said
"What the actual fuck?" she said as she came to an abrupt stop in the hallway.
"oh sorry, I was comparing the guys here to ugly ducklings." I said and she looked at me like I needed to be admitted into an insane asylum. I get this look not so often by people because im so quiet so I just pulled my cardigan further over my shoulder and averted my eyes and interest to the floor as if it were the most beautiful thing ever.
"okay then, anyways have you heard of the kid that's supposed to be here tomorrow? He's apparently extremely hot!" she nudged my arm.
See, Erika wants me to get a boyfriend. She thinks I need a male figure in my life other than my father and every time she brings it up I say 'unless you can magically make Dylan O'Brian appear, then no thank you'.
"I know you mean well but just let me be," I waited for second and glanced at Erika then shut my eyes and continued "yes i'm alone but i'm alone and free!!" I sang out loud the part of "first time in forever (reprised version)" from Frozen, as we reached our lockers. Yes, stares from some classmates were shot in my direction so I just smiled shyly and darted my eyes to the ground, again.
About me; when i'm around the people, well person, I know and I am comfortable with, I am a completely different person. But at social events or places such as school, I become a hermit crap in my shell and wont come out for anyone but Erika who is said 'person'.
My school sees me as its mystery and no one in my school likes mysteries so the only friend I really have is Erika and her and I have been best friends since 5 grade.
I slowly looked up to see if people were still looking at me and they weren't so the coast was clear to talk again. "Oh yea I don't know if I told you this but i'm getting a new neighbor today, so that should be fun, cant wait! You can just see the excitement oozing from my complexion." I said laced with sarcasm.
"Oh I bet they have a son that will go here and you two will fall in love and get married and then I will be your child's godmother, yes I will be your child's godmother of course its an honor for you to ask!" Erika started stating out my future and I guess you could say 'acted' it out for me.
"Oh is that it? I wont get abducted by aliens? Anything else I should know?" I asked sarcastically. You see, sarcasm is my most used language. Lets just say I get in minor troubles everyday when a teacher calls on me to answer.
The bell for first period rang and Erika and I said our goodbyes, even though we have all but two
classes together, and on to math it was, kill. me. now.
