Chapter 7

Brook had been practicing his magic, but it hadn’t worked out that well. He couldn’t channel his power properly and some golems were too big, or some were too small. Duncan on the other hand, didn’t have any magic at all. He was an Elite due to his awesome swordsman skills. His archery skills had been improving and he wanted to deal a lot of damage before having to fight with close combat.

There wasn’t much information about this new monster. For all they knew, it was terrorizing a village on the western side of the country. There had only been four survivors, and they had no description of the monster. According to them, it came during the shadow of the night and destroyed everything. Not a nice thought. How could an unseen monster be defeated?

Brook and Duncan got ready to leave next morning. The King came out to bid them goodbye. A tall, hooded figure was standing next to him. ‘Stay sharp. This monster will not be easy, but I have utmost faith in you. This will not just serve as a mission to kill the monster, but it will also be a mission to gather information on these monsters. If we can find out a way to close the gates of Hell forever, it will be good for the whole world.’

‘Sure, whatever you say boss.’ replied Brook with a nod.

‘We will do our best.’ Duncan said after a salute.

After the two Elites could not be seen on the horizon the hooded figure finally spoke in a raspy voice. ‘Do you think they can do it?’

‘Oh yes, I believe so.’ Replied Niccolo the king.

‘But why send them? I could’ve finished the job quickly.’

‘You are needed here. And besides, Brook is very dangerous. Even if he does perish in battle it will only be for the good of the world. He doesn’t realize how powerful he can become if he is trained in the dark arts.’

‘Well, if you put it that way, I guess sending him was the best option.’

‘Yes, it was.’ With this statement, the King turned back to the palace.’
