Myriam

It's been a few weeks since I told Daryl I was pregnant. Even with the danger, Daryl and I couldn't be happier. Except that I wasn't allowed to leave the prison. Apparently it's 'too dangerous'. BS, like it's not for him or anyone else.

Daryl told Rick so I couldn't go on runs but other then that, nobody knew. I wanted to keep it that way as long as I could. I saw how people treated Lori during her pregnancy. I don't want to be babied or treated any different.

I flipped my fiery red hair out of my face as I carried the basket to the garden. Since I'm not allowed to go on runs, I try to occupy myself with cooking, laundry and garden work. I'm on my way to gather vegetables for the veggie stir fry I'm making for dinner.

I picked some zucchini, green beans, and carrots then head back inside to gather the other things I would need to finish the meal. I have been making a wish list for Glenn whenever he goes on a run. It usually consists of cooking utensils and spices along with other things like bread crumbs and coconut oil.

Once outside again, I set the skillet over the fire to heat up as I cut the vegetables into strips. I then tossed them in the pan to fry with the coconut oil. I sprinted some garlic salt on the veggies as they fried. Once they finished, I took the skillet off the fire and sprinkled a little more garlic salt. Then I poured about a cup of bread crumbs in it and stirred the veggies. The bread crumbs stuck to the veggies, making them crispy and oh so delicious.

I grinned as I popped a green bean into my mouth, humming at the flavor. It's moments like this that make the new cruel world more bearable. By now it was almost dinner and everyone, that was here, gathered around to get a bowl of the crunchy veggies.

"This is real great, Myriam," Maggie said with a smile. Glenn nodded in agreement, his mouth too full to talk. Carl smiled with puffy cheeks, his mouth also full.

"Thanks, Myriam," Rick said as he finished his bowl.

"You have to show me how you made this, dear," Carol beamed as she popped a carrot into her mouth.

"It's really simple actually," I replied matter-of-factly. "You just get veggies in a little oil and sprinkle garlic salt and bread crumbs. Glenn has been getting some cooking stuff for me on runs so you can thank him too for this." Glenn looked up from his now empty bowl and blushed as everyone stared at him.

"It's no big," he replied in embarrassment and everyone laughed, even Michonne cracked a smile.

Just then, Daryl and Merle drove through the chain link fence gate, back from the run they had gone on earlier today. They left the things in the truck as they approached us and I grinned, holding out two bowls that I had saved for them. "Why thank ye, Darlin'," Merle ginned with a wink as he took one bowl from me and sat next to Carl. Daryl smiled slightly as he took the bowl and sat beside me.

"Thank's Sunshine," he said as he started eating. Even though he doesn't say much of anything affectionate, I know he loves me regardless. He wouldn't be Daryl if he got all sappy anyway and I love him for who he is, even with the tough exterior.

The next day, since Carol wanted to do the cooking, I did laundry. Lots of laundry. I took a minute to whip the sweat off my forehead then continued to hang the laundry on the clothes line. I hummed a small tune, a silly little song from my childhood getting stuck in my head.

"Dum da dee dum
Dum da dee dum
Time for something sweet," I sang quietly to Pooh Bear's honey bee song. "How I would like to be, a honey bee in the tree. But I wouldn't be a bear them, so I really wouldn't care then.
Dum da dee Dum,
Dum da dee Dum,
Time for something sweet."
By now I had developed a strange craving for candy, or something sweet. I kept a stash of sweets under my cushion in my cell. I had been saving it for just moments like these, when candy felt like my one and only.

I quickly gathered the dry clothes in the basket and rushed inside, set the close down on the table in the cafeteria then rushed to my cell, returning seconds later with a Sucker betw my lips. Daryl raised an eyebrow at me from his spot on the table. I grinned goofily to which he just chuckled and kept sharpening his knife.

I set my basket on the chair as I stood beside it and started to fold clothes, setting them into neat piles on the table, each pile being the laundry of a different person.

After a few minutes of peaseful silence, Daryl stood and kissed my forehead, mumbling something about going to talk to Rick. I nodded and continued to fold the clothes as he left.

After finishing the basket, I went outside and pulled the dry clothes off the line, bringing them back and starting to fold again. Just then, Merle strolled into the room and whistled.

"Well if it ain't a li'l house wife," he chuckled and I rolled my eyes but kept my mouth shut. "Why don' ya do ma laundry fer me, sugar lips?"

"You are perfectly capable of doing your own laundry, Merle. I wouldn't think it had to be done for you," I replied calmly, knowing that getting riled up and stressed wasn't good for the baby.

"Aw but ain't that wha' li'l house wives are s'possed ta do," he replied with a toothy grin, leaning on his good hand on the table, too close for my comfort. I tried to relax and control my red headed temper as it flared. I stayed quiet as I kept on folding the clothes, neatly setting Daryl's poncho in his pile.

Merle laughed as he pushed himself off the table and slapped my behind as he walked past me. I squealed then whipped around to face him, a nasty glare on my pail face. Then Daryl walked in.

"Wha' the hell is goin' on 'ere," he asked when he saw me glaring at a smirking Merle.

"You should teach your brother how to keep his hands to himself, especially if the girl is taken," I growled as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Ya know Ya liked it, sweet cheeks," Merle winked. Daryl narrowed his eyes and stormed to Merle, pushing him roughly to the side.

"Ya keep yer claws to yerself, Ya hear!? Find yer own woman and stay away from mine," Daryl yelled in his brother's face. Merle raised an eyebrow.

"Aight li'l brother, no need te get yer panties in a bunch," he said before walking away.

Daryl then rushed over to me and checked me frantically for any damage. "He di'nt do anythin' to ya, did he," he asked worriedly, cupping my face in his hands. Ever since he found out about my pregnancy, he had been acting more affectionate when we were alone. I smiled and kissed his palm.

"No, I'm OK," I reassured and raised my hands to his face, bringing him into a sweet kiss. He hugged me and pressed his lips between my eyebrows once we pulled away. If he always held me like this, as much as I hate the title, I wouldn't mind being his house wife, but only for him though.
