Books are a place where I go,
Somewhere where I learn things I didn't know,
Or just a place where impossible is easy to achieve,
It's where I go for fun or when I grieve,
The action in the pages takes me away,
Keeping all the problems in my life at bay,
Every adventure seems to last forever,
Until the heroes win their endeavor,
Then I'm alone with the thoughts in my head,
Wishing that I had another story instead,
To me books are more than a few pages that are covered,
They are people's lives waiting to be discovered,
At times I feel more sorry for the characters than myself,
As I reluctantly place the story back on the shelf,
The character's pain are my pain too,
And so are their joys when they say "I love you",
Something I've learned from the lives I've been shown,
Is that happy endings can come true and that you're never alone
