Sophie has been sensing a lot of changes since the last few hours. Sophie Traynor is a six years old from Boston, USA. Since the last few hours, Sophie has been missing quite a lot of things in her life . Especially her dad.
In the morning, some uniformed men had knocked at her door. They had brought her dad's clothes. Her mom looked shocked after they talked to her. Not just shocked, Sophie noticed water droplets falling from mama's eyes. The men told something to her Mom -actually a lot of things.
Sophie could hear them saying, "Everything will be alright. Just stay strong." Later that day many people came to meet mama. But her mama kept on crying. Sophie was dying to go and ask them why her dad wasn't coming till then.
Her dad should've been home by then. Is he working for this long? Why is mama crying and weeping all day long? Sophie thought, but she just didn't have the guts to go and ask her, instead the environment made her cry too.
Later that night her mom came to Sophie's room with Sophie's favourite bed time stories book. Sophie was surprised as she wasn't expecting it, at least not that day.
When the story ended, when mama was leaving the room, and Sophie was almost asleep, she made herself strong enough and asked mama what had actually happened and why dad wasn't coming back yet. Her mom said, "Oh darling, as dad was coming back from work , God realized that he deserved a loooooong vacation as a reward . therefore , God gave him the reward of hardwork by giving him the 'vacation of life' in heaven "
-doesn't that mean he is dead ?
- oh no dear ! why do u say that ?
- i remember you saying good people go to heaven when they die...
-love, then you must remember me saying that very good people go to heaven and therefore become a shining star in the sky . And remember that star brooch you gifted dad on father's day and said that he was your star ? Dad was already a star my dear , and stars never die .
- does that mean i can still see him ? every night ?
-Oh yeah ! of course my love.
Mama kissed Sophie on her forhead.
Sophie ran towards the window , looked at the stars and said ,"Good night dad , you are my shinning star . I love you . "
out of no where she heard dad saying , "take care of mama love . you aren't a kid anymore , you are my big girl now ."
Although Sophie always loved hearing herself as dad's big girl but this time she found it more meaningful. she felt matured staying young as she looked at the sky with her wide,matured,brave and curious eyes .
