Chapter 1: Mason

1449
-A few years before the end of the Hundred Year war, a war between England and France.-

Mason Blin is a military leader on the side of the French. He will be leading an assault on one of England's castles in 3 days. But before he does, he heads back to his hometown to visit his favorite blacksmith, Caron.

He arrives at Caron's blacksmith. Caron is pleasantly surprised and welcomes him in. They talk for a bit, until Caron asks why he came all the way back here. Mason explains that he will be leading a battle soon, and would like a blade fit for slaying a king. Caron accepts.

And so the blade was forged. Pure, solid gold blade, a whale skin wrapped hilt, and rare jewels encrusted into it. It was perfect. Mason thanked Caron for this, and payed him handsomely. He then rushed back to camp so he can start his assault plans.

Finally ready to begin the battle, Mason charges his men towards the castle on horseback. He sees arrows rain down from the sky. Knowing his allies would be loyal to him until the very end, he didn't even flinch. One of his men dives him and his horse in front of Mason, taking every arrow with him. They reached the wall, and Mason instructed his men to bust down the gate. They did so. They charged in, Mason cutting down their soldiers with ease with his sword. Then, he unsheathed his new knife, and started to cut away. He sliced through his foes like a knife through butter. Cutting with the blade came effortlessly, almost boring Mason. They marched up to the throne room. Mason told his men to wait outside.

The king cowered behind his throne, and sent two guards to kill Mason. Mason blocked one of their blows with his sword, and disarmed him. He then swept his leg under them, kicking their legs and causing both of them to lose their balance, and they fell flat onto the floor. Mason then stabbed each in the heart with the Bane of Kings. He then walked to the throne. The king pleaded for him to not hurt him, saying that he could end the war. Mason knew this was impossible, especially since he wasn't even a high ranking official. He wasn't even much of a 'king'. More or less a mayor of a town. In any case, Mason had no choice but to end the Kings life by slitting his throat.
