Clark: "I guess we're two of a kind!"
Lois: "Excuse me?"
Clark: "Well, you and I are the only ones here without dates."
Lois: "I have a date, thank you very much."
Clark: "Oh you mean Whitney? I guess I just assumed he wasn't since he's been dancing with every girl except you."
Lois: "What do you want Smallville?"
Clark: "I would like to ask you to dance."
Lois: "No. I don't even like this song."
Clark: "Awww come on Lois! You've said no the last three times."
Lois: "And I'll keep saying no. Besides, I thought Lana was your date?"
Clark: "I thought so too."
Lois: "Fine Clark! I will share one dance with you. One! After that, you have to leave me alone for the rest of the night!"
Clark: "Deal!"
(The two high schoolers proceed to the dance floor. A new song has begun)
Lois: "Clark. I've got to ask you something."
Clark: "Ask."
Lois: "Why do you keep trying so hard?"
Clark: "What do you mean?"
Lois: "What do I mean? Clark, you asked me out on my first day at Smallville High. You're always offering me your letterman even when I'm already wearing a jacket. Clark, I see you on the field. Despite all the other girls watching you play from the bleachers, when you spot me, you freeze up like a freakin zombie and, in an instant, the football team just lost one of their best players. I mean, what kind of guy keeps trying and trying when he's obviously getting no results. It's almost like you enjoy being told no."
Clark: "Well, to be honest, every time you say no, it just gives me a chance to come up with a better way for you to say yes the next time."
Lois: "Clark! I'm not going to say yes! I'm never going to say yes! When are you going to understand that we are not meant to be? You and I have absolutely nothing in common. You love Smallville, I hate Smallville! I cannot wait to get out of this God-forsaken town. You like Chess club, I freakin hate the fact that there's even a Chess club! You're nice Smallville. You're fun to pick on, but when it comes to you and I, I'm sorry. I can't see a man like you in my life. Now or in the future."
Clark: "Well, ummm, that sucks."
Lois: "Clark, you've got to understand. I'm not the only girl in school. There's Chloe! You guys have been best friends since the first grade Clark! You only met me last year. Do you know how much my cousin talks about you when you're not around? There's Lana! I mean, I never heard you talk about her before. . . and, to be honest, out of all the girls in school, it amazes me that you would even consider that whiny prima donna. . . but anyway, although she didn't show up, she did say yes to come with you tonight. Why not be with someone who actually cares for you? Why not be with someone who sincerely feels the same way about you?"
Clark: "Simple. They're not you Lois."
Lois: "You are the most strangest man I have ever met Clark Kent."
Clark: "Tell me about it."
Lois: "Well Clark, the song has ended which means this dance is over. Thank you and good night."
Clark: "Hey Lois."
Lois: "Clark! Do you not remember our deal?"
Clark: "You look beautiful tonight. I'm only saying that because I don't know if Whitney has had a chance to tell you yet."
(Clark starts to walk back to his table)
Lois: "Clark, wait!"
Clark: "Yes?"
Lois: "Will you dance with me? . . . I like this song."
EPILOGUE
Jonathan: "So what time does it end again?"
Martha: "At 10. Now come on Jonathan! I don't want Clark to be waiting by himself in the middle of the night."
Jonathan: "He's 18 Babe."
Martha: "He's still my baby Jonathan!"
Jonathan: "Jesus Christ, Babe! You have really got to stop. . ."
(As Jonathan and Martha are walking out the door, they see a beautiful blonde woman with glasses standing there)
Kara: "Jonathan and Martha Kent?"
Jonathan: "Can we help you?"
Kara: "Hi. My name is Linda Danvers. I'm from Neuwale."
Martha: "Neuwale? You came all the way from Neuwale to come knock on our door this late in the evening?"
Kara: "Yes ma'am. And I'm sorry for dropping by so late, but I needed to find you guys as soon as possible. I'm here regarding your son."
Jonathan: "What about him?"
Kara: "Your son, Clark Kent, he has powers. He's not from this world."
Martha: "Excuse me?"
Jonathan: "Just who in the world do you think you are Ms. Danvers? Neither Clark, my wife, or myself have ever heard of you so how dare you. . ."
Kara: "Your son can shoot fire out of his eyes! He's faster than a speeding bullet! He can freeze things with his breath, he can hear sounds miles away, and if he's 18, then he's just barely starting to levitate off the ground. He has the same exact powers as Supergirl."
Martha: "How do you know all that?"
Jonathan: "Are you spying on our son?"
Kara: "No. I know all this because I have all those abilities as well. My real name is Kara Zor-El. I'm Supergirl. Your son is not from this world. He's from mine. Clark Kent is my cousin."
