I stared out the rain soaked window in hopes that the sun would come out and melt the pain away. But much to my dismay another crack of lightning rolled by and lit up the sky. My mind couldn't stop hitting replay of the last month.
I had been in town shopping and was currently waiting at the cross walk when the sign turned green. I picked up my bags and stepped out just to hear a screeching of tires and see a black Volvo plow into me before I hit the pavement.
Just then my phone lit up indicating I had a text from Eric. "I'm at your door," it read. I got up and opened the door to see Eric, my fiancé standing there with a bouquet of flowers and a note card in his hands. He handed them to me with a smile then turned and left before I could even do anything to thank him. It was abrupt and unlike him but I shut the door. He was too far away to call him back.
