Piper Pink: The Final Chapter

The Prologue

One year later
"Piper! Focus!"
Piper's head slammed onto the table, jolting her awake.
"Yes, Link!"
Link the Coyote sighed. "Look, I know you haven't been sleeping well, but Sonic wanted you here for a reason. You have to focus your energy into this mission!"
Piper sighed and flipped her hair, which was recently chopped off to her elbow. She fixed her brown jacket and blue shirt, smoothed out her shorts, and put on her tote bag.
"Aye aye, sir!" She giggled.
Link rolled his eyes and smiled at his friend.
"It's a good thing Sonic called me when he did. You are a complete mess."
Link the Coyote was Piper's old friend from the planet Edenia. His father tried to sacrifice Piper when she tried to get the Earth Medallion with her friends. Luckily, Link and Sonic were able to stop him in time.
Sonic had sent Piper out with the computer chip they had fought over long ago. Sonic knew it was a dangerous mission, and never actually used the chip, for fear that his friends would be in danger. But when Piper gained the Light Medallion, he knew she could not only save millions of robotisized Mobians, but her parents as well. However, Sonic told Piper that she had to leave in secret to protect Tails and their other friends. It had been a year since she left.
Sonic had sent Link to help her defeat Eggman, knowing that they would make a great team.
Piper laughed. "You are right. I am a mess. But at least I'm not a perfectionist with OCD."
Link huffed. "It's not that bad."
Piper smirked as her eyes turned teal. "You are right, I'm just messing with you. You ready for this mission?"
Link walked over to the computer. "As soon as we get the OK from Sonic to proceed. He is meeting up with is there."
Sonic checks in with Piper to see how she is and to occasionally join them on raids. He of course does it secretly to protect those he loves, but can't help the need to be involved.

Piper shook her head. "Of course he is. He has to be in on the action, even if it is highly dangerous."
Suddenly, Piper's ear piece started to ring. She pressed the button and answered the call.
"Hello? This is Piper."
"Hey Pip! How are ya?"
"Oh hey Sonic! I'm doing fine. You meeting up with us at the rendezvous point?"
Sonic laughed on the other side.
"Of course! Why wouldn't I?"
"No reason, just wondering. How is everyone?"
There was silence on the other end.
"Fine. As you would expect. Still a bit confused. And Tails..."
Pipers eyes turned a deep blue. "I bet. I miss you all, and him, so much. What do they know?"
"All I told them was you had to leave for a sick relative and couldn't say goodbye."
Piper was quiet, and Sonic sighed in response.
"It's for their safety, Pip. You know how dangerous this mission is. If Tails knew where you were.."
"He would stomp right on down here and would probably be killed," I finished. "I know."
Sonic chuckled. "Soon, this will all be over and you can come back."
"Hopefully."
"It will be. Anyways, I'll meet up with you guys there. Catch ya later!"
"See you, Sonic."
Piper pressed the button once more and ended the call.
Link walked over to her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"You doing ok?"
Piper looked up and smiled sadly.
"Yeah, it's just hard. I'm loosing sleep over it even."
"I know, I know. I'm sorry."
Link hugged Piper and smiled.
"Hopefully with this mission, we can finally put an end to this madness."
Piper pulled away and grinned. "Yeah, this is it. After this, it's over."
Link patted his friend on the head and walked to the door, pulling at his gloves. "You ready?"
Piper smiled and pulled the chip out from her bag.
"I was born ready."

Link, Piper, and other volunteers arrived on scene at the back of Eggman's secret lair, waiting for Sonic.
They had been tracking the location for weeks and finally pin pointed the exact location of the Robotisizer.
Link looked at his tablet and pointed out a heat signal to the mink.
"That's Eggman sitting in there. Our mission is to surprise him and stun him enough to capture him and plug in this code," he lifted up the chip, "into his super computer. This code will automatically tell all robots to go to the Robotisizer which will change them all back to their normal selves."
Piper smiled softly. "Everyone will be themselves again. Including my parents." She stared at Eggman's heat signal, which moved from his desk, to the refrigerator, and back to his desk again.
Piper looked at her watch and sighed.
"How can someone who has super speed be this late?"
Link furrowed his brow. "I'm not sure, but I'm starting to get a bit worried."
Suddenly, Piper got a call on her earpiece. Link shushed the other volunteers as Piper pressed the button to answer.
"Sonic? Is that you?"
"PIPER!"
"Sonic! What's wrong??"
"Get out of there! It's not Eggman!"
Piper's eyes grew wide. "What do you mean?" She could hear his voice wheeze.
"Eggman just attacked the market place here! He isn't in his lab!"
Piper looked at the tablet in horror. "Then who is this heat signal inside the Robotisizer base??"
"I don't know, but I have a bad feeling. You need to get out of there now! You can't anticipate an enemy we do not know. Abort the mission!"
Piper looked at the tablet and at Link, who stared at her wide eyed.
"Okay, they are retreating."
"Good, I'll meet up with yo-" Sonic paused. "Wait, what do you mean they are retreating?! You have to leave as well!"
"No, Sonic." Piper sighed. "I want to come home. I want my parents. It doesn't matter who the enemy is, as long as I keep my head up."
"No!"
"Yes. I'll see you when I get back with everyone else."
"Wait! Pip-"
She ended the call and looked up at her team.
"Sonic said to retreat. Something came up."
Link looked at her suspiciously, but everyone else grumbled and started to leave.
"Piper," he questioned quietly. "What are you planning?"
"If you want, I'll let you come. I couldn't place anyone else in danger."
Link winked. "I knew we were still on. Let's go."

The both of them slowly walked over to the ventilation shaft and opened it. They crawled inside and roamed through the vents.
"You got the location?"
"Yep," Link replied, opening his tablet and looking at the maps. "At the next intersection, turn left."
"Left, got it." Piper crawled left and Link followed.
They followed the map until they came to the pin point, a shaft underneath them.
"Ok, I'm going down and scoping the area." Piper opened her bag and slipped on her black suit, disguising herself.
"Be careful, Piper."
She smiled and slipped out from the vents and against the wall, now in a dark room.
She looked around, but couldn't see anything. It was total darkness.
"Isn't this supposed to be his office?"
"Yes. Why?"
"Well, it's just a dark room that appears to be empty."
Link gasped. "The heat signal is moving closer to you."
Piper's eyes turned dark green as she tightened her fists.
"Be careful, Piper!"
Suddenly the lights flipped on and blinded Piper for a split second, giving her attacker the chance to shoot.
The blast of energy sent the mink flying, hitting the wall behind her.
"Gah!"
She sat, dazed, as she stared at the face of the man in charge of the Robotisizer.
"Hello, Weasel."
Piper growled.
"Snively."
The short man chuckled and used one of his robots to pick the dazed mink up in the air.
"So, you know me."
"Not in a good way." Piper snarled. "I know you are Eggman's nephew and that you were his secretary."
Snively growled and pressed a button on his remote, resulting in his robot flinging Piper across the room. She slammed into another wall.
"I WAS NOT HIS SECRETARY!" He breathed heavily and stroked his ginger goatee. "I was his apprentice, and now I am his proceeder."
Piper was again picked up and flung at the opposite wall.
"He is no longer in the picture," he said, chuckling, "but he never really was in the first place."
Piper winced in pain, her body slumped against the wall. 
"Did you really think you could waltz in here and stop my handiwork?"
Link slowly inched down from the vent with Pipers bag, creeping up behind Snively.
"Because you were deeply mistaken, weasel."
Piper snarled. "I'm not a weasel, dimwit."
Snively snorted and reached for his remote.

Suddenly, Link grabbed Snively from behind and threw Piper her bag. "The medallion!"
Piper caught the bag and winced in pain. She reached in and out on her medallion.
Not paying attention, Snively yelled out loud and pressed another button, making the machine pick up Link and hold him in the air.
"Link!" Piper said, floating mid air. "Hold on!"
With her light medallion, she created a ball of energy and flung it at the machine, damaging it. Poor Link fell to the ground, not moving.
"Link!"
"Times up, weasel!" Snively pulled out a detonator and put his finger over the button.
"I'll blow this place to smithereens!"
"You are bluffing," Piper said. "You wouldn't destroy your precious machine."
Snively smiled mischievously.

"You think this is the only one I have built?"

Piper gasped in realization.
There wasn't just one Robotisizer. There were multiple ones.
She slowly took off her medallion. "Okay, okay. Just put the detonator down."
Snively laughed as he hopped into his own egg carrier and started to fly off.
"See you in hell."
He pressed the button and blasted a hole in the roof, zooming away.
Piper ran over to Link, who was still in the machines grasp on the floor. A voice rang out.
TEN SECONDS TILL SELF DESTRUCT. NINE. EIGHT.
Piper gasped and tried to pull Link out. Suddenly, the machine released propellors from its back and began to follow the egg carrier.
"No Link!!! WAIT!!"
SEVEN. SIX. FIVE.
Pipers eyes were wide as she watched in horror as Link was taken prisoner. Just as she was about to super jump up there, someone grabbed her waist and ran her out of the room.
FOUR. THREE.
"WAIT!!!!!!" Piper screamed as Sonic zoomed out of the building and far away.
TWO. ONE.
Piper flinched as an explosion rang out behind them. Gasping, Sonic set her down.
"What were you thinking!?" He gasped, shaking his head. "You could have been killed!"
"Link!" Piper said, distraught. "Link was captured! We have to save him-"
"And so we will," Sonic sat down next to her. "But we need backup. We don't know our enemy and what we could be walking into."
"Actually, we do." Pipers eyes turned deep blue. "And I'm telling you, we need the team."
Sonics eyes went wide and stared at Piper.
"Pip, we can't.."
"Yes we can. They are strong enough." Piper looked at Sonic in the eye. "You need to put more faith in the team, Sonic." She smiled. "They can do it."
Sonic sighed and rubbed his quills.
"You know what? You are right."
He took her hand.
"Let's bring you home." 🌟
