Chapter 1 - More than meets the eye
This is not your ordinary love story, this spooky love story has quite the twist. It all starts in the small town of Melville. First let me start off by telling you a little about me. My name is Aadin. I'm rather tall, kinda skinny, and I have brown hair. That all the normal stuff but just wait. Let me tell you some of my rather unusual features. Yes, I seem normal at first, but you haven't met the real me. See, I have this special talent... I see more than what meets the eye. Doesn't sound strange does it? That's why they say I'm misunderstood...
Now when I say I see more than what meets the eye, I mean exactly that. I see people who you can't see. I just moved here from the my home town hoping to get a new start. When I moved here I found something rather strange? I started seeing things. Things other people don't. I always seen more than others, or at least I thought. It wasn't until now when I met someone at my new apartment. No one seems to notice her, at first it was strange, until she told me a little about herself. Her name is Amira, she greeted me to my apartment when I first moved in. I thought nothing of her until I noticed only I could see her...
Now I know what you're thinking. This isn't your average ghost story. I have grown very close to Amira. She is actually like a room mate now. We talk about our days and go on walks together. Yes, people look at me funny, but she understands me like no one else did from back home. She knows what it's like to not be noticed or remembered.
She has told me alot since I moved into my new apartment. How she grew up, where she went to school. All that stuff, but one thing stuck out. She started telling me about her death... She started to vividly tell me the story that led to her suicide...
She started off by telling me how her father had beat her, and abused her. That he would lock her in a room for 3 days before letting her eat. It was cold and frigid in the dark room. She had a locket with a picture of her mom. When he would do this to her it would make her feel unwanted. Like no one was there for her.
She had started off just having deep thoughts about her mom. It always led her to crying so much that her face would get as red as a cherry. One day she had enough and starting planning her escape from the cruel world we live in. She said it was her only way out. She began to wonder to herself if life was even worth living.
Her father had left home for work one day, and she snuck outback to the the woods. She found a run down shed in the woods. She found 20 feet of old rope and climbed an old oak tree about a five minute walk in the woods. Amira remembers when she was younger her mom would help her climb up the tree.
So many memories were made when her mom was still around. She then started to cry as she tighten the rope in her hands. " It's time to see you again", Amira thought to herself... After a few moments of crying and thinking of her mother, Amira decided it was time. Time to be in a better place... When her dad came home he had searched all over the house for her.
He immediately called the police, thinking she had run away. When the police got there they questioned her father of where he was when she went missing. They searched the whole house until all that was left was the woods out back. They sent a search party, and when they found her it was too late... She had been hanging for a good hour before they found her. She had a note tied to her arm. It said " You left too early, and I stayed too long." Her father told the officer that she had been acting strange lately, to cover up the abuse.
When they took her into autopsy it showed that she had 3 broken ribs and a broken wrist. It was obvious that she was being abused, but no one ever took her father to court. While at her funeral no one had showed up except for 2 of the neighbors who knew Amira. They buried her right next to her mom, at the Coveville Cemetery. What she didn't know though was that some ghost don't cross over and remain on earth. It had happened right before her death. There was great doubt and grief before she had committed suicide.
I've noticed more and more that I see these people. They walk around and act like normal people. It's almost as if I can't tell them apart from the real world. It's like they fit in just as they had befor they were dead. I understand these people more than the living. They understand me, and it makes me feel wanted for once.
I never took to to notice any of these people until I met Amira. I guess I've seen more than I thought. When I was younger I had an imaginary friend, Genevieve, my parents said she wasn't real. So I soon got further and further away from Genevieve. She said she had to leave one day, and I thought it had ment I grew up. Turns out she wasn't imaginary, but I seen more than what meets the eye...
