Chapter One

This morning is an unexpectedly warm, just flawless morning, apart from the previous ones in the week. It's only Wednesday, about halfway through.

Coffee and papers in hand, I stroll out of he kitchen to the patio and sprawl out comfortably on my chair, taking in the breathtakingly familiar sight of hundreds of firs and spruces spread out upon this mountainous range, like I have almost every morning. As I look over my evaluation papers from yesterday afternoon, I've taken into note that this inmate, Johni Clandov, may have to be transported to PMHI.

My job is to evaluate new inmates expecting to be at the Centre, to write out a final report, psychological case study, on whether they are mentally capable of staying where they are at or if they should be transported to Ponderosa Mental Health Institute.

I get a new document every Monday of an inmate being held at Ponderosa Prison Centre. It states what the inmate has done to be held in the prison, along with general information, background information, and medical record. I have exactly a week to evil are the inmate I am assigned to. Under some circumstances that's rarely happen, I ask my boss if I could invest more time with the inmate if I feel they need more evaluation.

Johni Clandov-Ponderosa Prison Centre

Final charge: Three accounts of both kidnapping and first degree murder, all charges related.

General Information: 37, Caucasian, male, 225lbs, 5'11", blue eyes, dark brown hair, scruff, scar on right side of face starting under temple coming down to cheek bone.

Background Information: Two charges on petty theft and one charge on public intoxication. "Bright, outspoken, joking, teenage boy with good grades" said by his teachers of his high school. The only family able to be contacted was his brother, said "he was perfectly fine, that is until our parents got murdered cold in a gas station by someone, a robber. Ever since then, I noticed he would steal, petty things really, of mine. Then, he started drinking heavily and that's what leaded him to have that charge of public intoxication. He became completely anti social so I stopped contacting him, I never thought anything like this would come of him... I just thought he was grieving in his own way. I get so angry with myself  sometimes because I am his brother so I should have noticed something off and protected him; send him away for help, something! Instead I just parted ways; him completely shutting me off could have been his biggest cry for help and I was too blind to notice. I feel partially blameworthy for the lost lives caused by my brother, even though they were thrives, they were still people with families that are now grieving. I can't help but feel it was partially my fault".

Medical Record: Doctor visits on regular basis, no serious injuries or problems, healthy.

Evaluation papers of Johni Clandov

Wednesday, August 20, 2014
Today I have further talked to Mr. Clandov. He seems to be becoming more relaxed around me-which he expressed-by engaging in deep conversation with me. He is highly intelligent, in which he revealed that asset in our conversations. He shares his own opinions with a vast amount of vocabulary and prominent thought I did notice, from yesterday and the continuation of today, that when I would ask about what happens to his parents or what he did to be in this Centre, he would shut down.

As I finish looking at my evaluation papers, I'm starting to realize that there may be a connection between his past of stealing things from his brother and the three people (thieves) he murdered. Not yet have I put it together.
