Just As A Flower Grows

Chapter 1

I woke up early in the morning, unintentionally. I had really wanted to sleep in especially after being with James. 

I thought the best way to deal with your own break up with your boyfriend was to sleep it off. But no! My mom just had to wake me up at 11:30! 

"Sweet pea you need to get up or else you'll be up all night again," my mother said in her sweet sickening voice.

"Noooooa," I said into my pillow.

"And plus we have something to talk about!" She said excitedly. "It has to do with royal boys, and it involves your sisters also." I groaned.

My mother has been obsessed with the royal family since Queen Kerttu had a son. She keeps on going on and on about how he needed to choose us girls to only be "happy". She is especially obsessed with it because her grandmother, Tiny, was in the selection for King Maxon with Queen America. Ever since Tiny it seems like all the women in this family are obsessed with the royals, everyone except me. 

I opened my eyes as soon as my mom was out of the room. I got up and got dressed into the clothing my mom makes me wear, a slight blue dress, and came out of my room.

Just my luck I accidentally walked into my sister Hannah and her twin brother.

"Watch it!" they yelled at the same time being really creepy as usual.

"Sorry," I answered them.

As we went into the living room I imeadetly plopped myself down on one of the couches. My mom and Gem were arguing over the TV about something.

"We need to play it back so everyone can hear it!" Mom yelled.

"But you can explain everything much better and then we wouldn't use power," Gem said.

"If it runs out Harold could just give us more power," my mom answered.

"Ok fine you can play it back," Gem said defeated.

On the TV screen it showed Prince Robert.

"Good morning Seacoast, I am telling you now that I have lived a very good life and I hope to keep on living it, but with more people in my life. I have now come of age to have my very own selection. My Grandmother Eadlyn has inspired me to do this. Knowing that she found love makes it possible that I might also.

"Today you will receive letters for each girl in your family between 18 and 14. To enter you just have to fill out the form and return them to your state capital. All forms will be returned to me in 12 days time and I will pick one from each state and open them on camera. If you get chosen officials will come to your home to help you get ready and then you shall come. I hope you enter and maybe get a chance to get to date me. Have a great day." 

Then screen went blank. My mom was holding three letters and handed one to Hannah, Gem, and finally me. 

"Fill them out now," mom commanded. 

It's not like I can disobey her, although I really wanted to. My whole family has this weird blood mutation that makes us have these.....powers. My mom has the power to have anyone follow what she wants them todo, and to make things shrivel up and die, when she wants them to. All my siblings have powers also. Hannah can have things light on fire and either burn or not. Harold can shoot lighting from his fingers. Gem can speak to any kind of nature, like the wind or the trees or animals. Eddie has super hearing and he has super speed. Daniela can breath underwater. Clara can see through anything. Finally Burn can blow up anything that he wants. I am somehow special. I have three powers strength, flying, and I am able to make anything grow. 

My family has to go all over the state and save anyone who needs saving while balencing a normal life. I once had to save the town that I live in from my bother who accidentally blew up all the water supplies. And I had to save the whole freaking town!

Anyways I got up and went into my room while Hannah and Gem couldn't stand to wait tore open their letters. I sat down at my desk, opened the letter, and started filling out the entre.

I finished it by putting it in an envelope and sealing it. I then climbed on to my bed, put my earbuds in and listened to my music

I must have fallen asleep cause I'm shaken awake by Clara

"Wake up Flower! Momma says you're going to the state capital right now! You don't want to make her angry," Clara said.

I got up and took Clara's hand, together we walked to the car.

"I'm not going," Clara said as she took her hand out of mine. "Only girls who are entry can go, mom said so."

"Alright," I said, "but take care of Burn, ok?"

"Ok,"

I got in the backseat with the form and waited for my older sisters, and mom to come. It took awhile but soon everyone who was going to go got into the car. 

So we were in the car to go to the state capital for 2 hours, as it turns out gem and mom were arguing about a good way to use electricity, and Hannah was listening to music and singing at the top of her lungs, she isn't  a good singer so the whole thing was just torture.

Finally we got there. Hannah and Gem practically ran out of the car to get in line while me and my mother took our time walking over.

"Did you put any makeup on?" She asked.

"Nope, if they take pictures I want to look like myself," I said.

She hurumped and walked on to join my sisters in the long line. We waited in line for about 2hours. I mean 2HOURS!!! When it finally was my turn up. 

A lady took me entry and a photographer told me to smile to take my picture. When he took my picture I thought about how happy my X, James, made me.

On the way home both my sisters had fallen asleep. So I took a chance to ask my mom a question. 

"Mom," I said, "who do you think will get in?" 

"You want to know the truth?" She asked. I nodded. "I don't know, but I hope it's neither of your sisters." She smiled, "But I do hope someone in our family, who wants to be a royal, gets in."

The rest of the time going home I looked out the window and up at the stars. Wondering if I got in would I still be under the same stars.
