Corbin

"Corbin? Corbin Woods? You're up." The director yelled through the megaphone.

"Don't mess up." I  repeatedly whispered under my breath. "Don't mess up."

My shoes squeaked on the floor as I walked front and center on the stage and my nervousness returned. I re-adjusted my ponytail before grabbing the mic. I looked up and the light temporarily blinded me.

"Hi, my name is Corbin Woods, I'm 17 years old senior at Oakland High School and I'm auditioning for the solo part of the school play. I will be singing One Little Thing by One Direction."

The director nodded his head of approval.

"Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me

But bear this in mind, it was meant to be

And I'm joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks

And it all makes sense to me..."

One by one, the director, everyone who have auditioned and was waiting to auditioned started to rock, hum and sing along.  By the time I was finished singing, everyone began to clap for me.

"Thank you. Thank you everyone." I said as I smiled and scurried off stage.

I walked off stage to my best friend Evy Lynne. Evy has been my friend since the start of high school.  She was a super preppy and optimistic girl. She was average height like me and had dark brown hair and bright blue eyes.

"O.M.G. You were sups amazing. I'm totes jelly of your voice. By the end of the night, you'll be trending!"

"Evy?" I chuckled. "What did I say about talking like that?"

"Sorry." She pretended to zip her lips. "But I'm serious. You should really consider creating a YouTube channel. You would get a lot of views."

"YouTube is Tyler thing. I will think about doing a collab but that's it."

Just at that moment, Tyler walked over to us. Tyler was my 21 year old brother. He was a big Youtube star for comedy back in our home town in Vermont. I guess you could say he was attractive with his short brown hair and skater boy style.

After our parents passed away 4 years ago, Tyler thought both of us could use a fresh start in California. He legally adopted me at only 19 years old and been taking care of us by landing parts in commercials and continuing to work for Youtube.

He hugged and congratulated me and gave an awkward wave to Evy. Even though Evy was dating Ethan now, Tyler and her had a thing in the past after she turned eighteen so of course there was a little tension.

We all left to go to my house for a quick snack. After we all finished eating, Evy and I began to head to my room.

"Don't forget Justin is moving in tomorrow!" Tyler yelled from around the kitchen.

Justin Deem was one of my brothers friends than he has made here in California. They met on a movie set two years ago and my brother has always said the rest is history.

"Ooh Justin ." Evy whispered and winked at me. "Totes adorbs."
