Gabriella wanted closure, like all of us. Ending everything at the place from where it all started was quite Legit. But I was her enemy, not Lily. But it was mate for mate. Check Mate. And I could never let anyone harm Lily.

"What happened to your face?" Lily took a step back, and shook her head in disbelief. I wondered whether it was love or pity that made her look so sad. I pulled my hood back on, covering my face. I had already decided our fate. I was here to rescue Lily, and then I would leave for good. She deserved someone better than a demon. She deserved all the bright and shiny things, and I was made up of everything dark and twisted.

She deserved life, and I was death.

"I never wanted you to see me like this." I whispered.

"It doesn't matter, Adrian."

She touched my hood slowly. She looked at me with her beautiful big eyes, and I forgot everything for a minute. She wasn't mine. I had to save her from this, and hand her over to Chase. I couldn't even imagine doing this a month ago from now, but I changed when I saw fear in her eyes. She was scared of me, and I was forcing her to love me. How could I do that to the soul I loved for centuries?

"I had to get you out of here before Gabriella tries to hurt you."

I touched her arm softly, and she shook off my hand. "I can't leave without Chase. Gabriella has made him a hostage. We need to find him first."

Yes, I had to save Lily and Chase both. He was the only one who could give her a happy ending, and I owed her this. I held her delicate face in my hands, and stroked her cheeks. This might be the last time I touched her. I wanted her to know that I had never intended to harm her.

"Lily, I want to be honest with you. I am not who you thought I was. I have lied to you about so many things. But I could assure you that I could never let anyone hurt you and I love you."

"It's not the right time. We need to find Chase."

She turned around without listening to me. I wanted her to understand that whatever that was happening wasn't my fault. How could she turn her back towards me without saying anything? She could have told me that She loved me too. Just once. LIE TO ME. But tell me for once that you loved me too, Lily Christensen.

"We might not see each other again. So, let me say what I always wanted to." I spoke, watching her irritated face.

"Look Adrian, I don't know...." She broke off in the middle of the sentence. There was a newly born confusion in her voice. There was something wrong, but I couldn't figure it out.

"I'll not let Gabriella hurt any of you. But you have to trust me. She's just seeking her revenge."

I knew how much Gabriella loved to play, so she wouldn't make this easy for any of us. She wanted her sweet revenge in the dirtiest way possible. I knew that she was around here somewhere, listening to our conversation.

"Yes, she is. She wants me to kill you." Lily spoke coldly.

I should have felt betrayed, sad or even angry but I didn't. I always knew that this moment would come. Gabriella won't let everything end so soon. But where was she? And then I saw her, watching us from a distance.

" Of course. So, she sent you to kill me?"

I held Lily's arm and pulled her towards me. She let out an agonizing scream.

"You're hurting me, Adrian."

I loosened my grip from her arm, and pushed her against the wall. I came closer to her, my face an inch away from hers. The scent of wild flowers and vanilla entered my nostrils. My nose touched the tip of hers. Her eyes closed tightly, and she was breathing rapidly. I wanted to kiss her. She was driving me insane, but I couldn't.

"Go ahead, Kill me then."

She opened her eyes, and looked at me. How could someone so familiar turn into a complete stranger? She kept looking at me like she was begging for help. I signaled her to look in the mirror next to me. I wanted her to understand that this was all for Gabriella. I was going to put a show for her to enjoy till I figured out a way to save Lily and Chase.

For a minute, I thought Lily couldn't understand but then she attacked. The way she did it, I knew that she was playing along now. I dodged it, and directed her out into the corridor.

I had to take Lily to a safe place, out of Gabriella's reach. And I knew the perfect place for that. She wouldn't put a foot inside that place even if she knew Lily was there.

I had to take Lily to Gabriella's personal hell.

Lily followed me into the dark corridor, and I pulled her inside the empty secret room behind one of the walls quickly.

"What are you doing?" Lily whispered.

I looked around, and a flash of memories came. This room held all the dark and dirty secrets of Leonard family.

I walked towards her, and took the knife from her hand and placed it on the side table.

"I am sorry. Gabriella was watching us. I had to hurt you."

I rubbed her arm softly, and came close to her again. This was torturing, it was almost impossible to resist her. I looked at her beautiful lips and back to her eyes.

"But why?" She spoke.

"I killed her Adrian, she'll kill you. Fair and Square. She's just taking revenge."

"You killed Adrian?"

"Apparently, yes. Stay here,I'll find Chase. Gabriella must be busy searching for you, so she won't be able to keep an eye on Chase."

"She can come here looking for me, can't she?"

I smiled," I know this place more than she does. I have wandered in these corridors for long. She doesn't know about this room."

I was lying. She knew about this room. She came to know all the secrets of her family, that made her hate them alot more. I felt sorry for her sometimes, she went through horrible things. I was her only friend, but she turned against me too. I was the only one who never left her side, but she betrayed me.

"I'll go with you." Lily spoke.

"No, stay here."

She touched my arm with her little delicate fingers. She took my hood off, and I kept staring at the floor. Please Lily, don't make this difficult for me.

She held my face in her hands, and moved her finger tips on my burnt face. Then she touched her soft lips against it. I closed my eyes to absorb it deep inside my soul. Her sacred kiss.

"I love you, and this doesn't even matter." She spoke.

This was all that I wanted to hear. She loved me. My Lily loved me. And nothing else mattered anymore.

"I love you too, Lily."

I walked out of the room to find Chase.
