The Trials of Night

Chapter 1

I wake up screaming from a nightmare. I get these offen. I calm myself down by repeating "My name is Night McKee. I am 18 years old. I have two younger brothers. My mom passed away when I was 12 and my dad commit suicide a year after she died. I have three best friends, August, Rose, and Aster."

When I calm myself down I see my youngest brother come in, Gray. He comes over to my bed and gets in with me.

"Nightmare?" I ask.

He nods and cuddles closer to me and I hug him. Soon his breath slows and I know that he has fallen asleep. Soon I fall asleep.

I wake up to both of my brothers jumping on me. I get up and get ready. I put on leggings and a red flannel. I put on my converse and head downstairs.

I'm stuck feeding and caring for my younger brothers. Gray is 11 and Legend is 14. When we are done eating they get into my car while I get my bag and their bags. Once I get in we head to their school. They say goodbye and head in.

They both go to the same school while I go to a military school. Their school is all ages. My school is to but it's only for those who have been asked to go there.

Once I get to my school I see my friends outside. We talk for a little bit then the bell rings and we head to the gym for our first lesson.

I'm an angel and almost everyone is afraid of people like me. It's hard when there are troopers everywhere because if I show any signs then they will kill me. I have been told that I'm very special because only some people are angels like me but as I said everyone is scared of people like me but I know one of the instructor who also is an angel, Ryan.

Me and him are very close friends. He is only a year older than me. He has taught me how to act like I'm not angel when they're testing us and when I'm walking through the halls.

When they test us they put us in a simulation of war. We have to prove that we can fight. We are on our way to take a test.

Ryan is the one giving it so I don't have to worry too much. He calls my name and I head into the room. He tells me to sit down and lay my head down on the head rest.

He injects a liquid into my neck and wishes me luck then when I open my eyes I'm in a field with beautiful primroses, daisies, dandelions, and tulips.

Then I see someone coming. They hold up their gun and on instinct I fly right into them and they fall over. I take their gun and shoot them. Then I realize what I did and I was so glad that only Ryan was in the room watching this. I wake up. Ryan comes over and just stares at me for a minute.

"What?" I ask a little annoyed.

"You used your wings." He answers.

"Sorry, I'm still getting used to this." I say.

"There going to be coming to watch you next time so you have to try. I'm going to let you go in one more time tomorrow and you can't use your wings." He says saying can't louder than the rest of his words.

He tells me to leave so I leave and head outside. When I get outside I go under a maple tree and just sit. I see someone walk up to me. I look at the and see that they have a gun and are ready to shoot. I just sit there and just look at them. When they get to me they hold the gun to my head while other people come behind me and tie me up. I then take this as a time to use my wings. I let them out and break the rope in the process then they start running at me and I block with my wings and fight. When they are all unconscious I look up to see everyone staring at me. I quickly get up and fly away.

I head home where no one can come and get me. I go inside and just cry on the couch. I start thinking what will happen to the boys and to me. I hear the door open and look to see it's Ryan.
He comes over to me and sits next to me and I just cry on his shoulder.

"Shhhhhh, It's okay." he coos.

"No it won't. There going to take my brothers and kill me." I say.

"I won't let that happen." He says.

He just hugs me for what feels like hours but is only 20 minutes. We stay at my house for the rest of the day. When it's time to pick up the boys, I tell ryan and he said that he will stay and wait until I come back.

The boys like Ryan and they think of him as a brother so when I get to their school, I tell them that Ryan is at the house but I don't tell them why.

They don't know that their endanger.

When we get back home they both run inside and hug Ryan. Then they go off and do their homework. Me and Ryan are left in the room alone. He comes and sits next to me. Then he opens his arms and don't hesitate to go into them. He just holds me while I cry. A few minutes later Legend comes down the stair and he asks

"Why are you holding each other?" We don't answer.

Then he asks again and I answer because he's old enough to understand.

So I tell him what I am and what happened today. After I'm done explaining it to him he comes over and hugs me.

He whispers soothing words in my ear and I find myself falling asleep on Ryan while being hugged by Legend.

Chapter one done. Now I need to work on chapter two.
