"My baby boy is going to university.." Her eyes got glassy.
"Mom, I'll be here during weekends and holidays." Marco smiled at his mother, the only parent he had. His father died in a car accident. Drunk truck driver hit the car which flipped over, leaving his dad brain dead.
Past is in the past, though. He thought it was better to keep himself busy. The only reason he had high grades was because he studied so often to keep him from thinking about his dad. If he had nothing to study, he read books..lots.
"Promise?" "I promise, mother." He hugged her and waved goodbye as he got on the bus with his bags.

"Bye, Jean!" His friends yelled as the car drove by. Some would've ran after the car and he simply waved. As his mother finally reach destination, she hugged him tightly. "My baby!" She cried. Jean pulled out his bags out the car and felt embarrassed but he lean in and kisses her cheeks. "Thanks mom... You know... for everything." He gave her a sad smile. "Better focus on your studies!!! No more trouble making. Don't listen to your crazy father! Always follow your heart, Jean." She handed over his schedule and Jean carelessly shoved it into his bags. "Will do mommy." She pulled his cheeks as she done before when he was a child.

He waved back and blew a kiss at her as the car pulled out of the campus' parking lot. The soft wind blew the damp tracks from his shirt. His mother had gotten way over hand with the emotions. Couldn't blame her. Through his own cheeks remained warm from his mother touch, his throat was still tight from the sad looks he received back home.

However, a strong pride shore past the sadness, overtaking everything else.

He was their college boy now.
