The Mad King raced through corridor after corridor, the pattering of his feet against the stone drumming out a fast paced rhythm interrupted occasionally by the blasts of cannons and the shouts of men as they fought and died. As he ran he sang a cheery tune – much like a Childs nursery rhyme
"The rebels are attacking, the rebels are attacking!
Come to hurt the King, come to kill the King.
Come to free the slaves
and come in great waves
come to make the world a better place
but the world cannot get better for the world is full of crooks
ever since the great Fae left
I know I must stay king, and my praises they must sing
And so a little Fae child I must find."
The King flung open the towering doors to the library and ran his finger across the spine of each book as he searched for the precious tome. "Found you!" he exclaimed and pulled the ancient manuscript from the shelf, chucking the priceless paper on the floor before clumsily sitting down and flicking the pages open. The king sat on the cold hard ground and read, and read, and read even as the battle noises grew to a steady thrum of explosions and screams – getting louder and louder, closer and closer. Then suddenly silence fell as the king jumped from the floor and flung the doors open before marching out. The book lying forgotten on the floor, its pages still open to where the king had been reading and on that page – In the journal of one of the ancient Fae – read twenty words; A Fae was born in the human town of Ashei who had the remarkable ability to control lightning and storms.
A man covered in blood entered the room – a rebel looking to kill the king – and his eyes fell on the book. He stooped down to read and as he did his mouth fell open and he rushed from the room. The race for the Fae was on.
