I can't believe I made it into Odd Squad! Today was my first day on the job and I was super excited.
I stepped out of the tubes to find Ms O, my boss. "You're Oakley, right?" she asked.
"Yes, ma'am," I replied.
"This is you're partner Otis, now go, you have a case to solve," said Ms O. Already? I thought. I just got here but I think I'm ready.
We stepped into the tubes and we were off.
•later that day•
Otis tied the rope around my waist.
"Is it tight enough?" I asked.
"You couldn't untie it if you tried. I've got you," said Otis.
I took a bite of the sandwich. I started to float upwards. I took another bite.
"Hurry up Oakley!" shouted Ms O. I reached up and grabbed her.
"Got her!" I yelled in triumph. Otis pulled Ms O and I back to the ground.
A few minutes later, Party Pam arrived. She handed us a piece of pound cake.
"This is one hundred pound pound cake. It will help you get back on the ground," explained Pam. Ms O and I both took a bite of the cake. We instantly dropped to the ground. Otis steadied me before I could fall. I mouthed a silent thank you to him. He put his arm around me as we walked to the tubes.
That was when we were twelve. Now we're fourteen.
