It's been a few weeks since Violetta, my sister, ran away from me. I feel so stupid. I am an idiot. How dare I hurt her. What is wrong with me? She was trying to help me but I almost killed her. The guilt I feel is unbearable. I got everything thing I wanted, but I lost the only thing I needed. Violetta was the only one who truly cares about me. My roses are outside searching the cities and shadows. The mercenaries check every ship docked and stand on every street corner, but still I haven't found her. She is my everything, and I almost killed her. This is something only I can do. I need to find her and I need to apologize.
Hair whips over my face and across my scared imperfection as I run through the big empty halls. I push open two big double doors and burst out into the rain. The Daggers. That's my idea. The only people in the whole world who would take in my sister and hide her from me are the Daggers. Not for long. I will get her back. I will search and fight to the end of the Earth for her. I will kill for her.
"Adelina!!!" A voice calls from behind me that I immediately recognize as Magiano's. I stop and wait for him to catch up to me.
"Where are you going, my love?"
"To find my sister."
"We have searched the entire city and not found her, why do you think you can do better?"
"Because I know where she is." Magiano scoffs and waves his hands in the air.
"If you knew where she was all along why did you have us look for her?"
"Because I didn't know where she was until we couldn't find her!" I say with a harsher tone than I actually meant. I Magiano see's the apologetic look I have placed on my face for a split second.
"Well then, where is she?"
"The Daggers." Magiano's golden eyes widen and then return to their slit cat-eye look.
"Well then, where are the Daggers?"
"I don't know but I'm going to find them so come with me if you want, and gather some mercenaries while you're at it, but you're wasting my time and I must find her." I continue half walking, half running down the road, slapping the soles of my shoes in the mud thinking of only one place to check first. Kenettra.
I dock to Sergio's ship immediately. Kenettra is not too far but it should take a good three days time to get there. Magiano and about thirty mercenaries board the ship directly behind me. Sergio yells commands to the workers and they reply with a fast "Yes captain," and get to work.
"Go!" I say quickly.
"As soon as we can!" He yells back with a smirk.
"Waves splash against the docks as the ship starts to move. At first all I can do is stare out at the deep blue water flowing freely like birds that don't fly but float. Now, I pace the deck for about an hour before Magiano comes up to me and grabs my wrist. I look down at his hand but before I can lash out I calm myself and let him stop me.
"I understand your stress, my love, but I suggest you get some rest." His eyes focus on the the scarred side of my face. I blush and move my head slightly to the side so my newly grown-back silver hair can fall over it. Magiano releases my wrist and I can see the little second of embarrassment in his eyes because of our kiss in the woods when Violetta had left us alone to go talk with Sergio. After the look is gone he retires to the lower decks in silence. I decide to take his advise and get a little rest.
I wake up sweaty and hot. Sergio stands over me placing a cool cloth on my forehead.
"What happened?" I choke out.
"I believe you had a bad dream, my love."
"I..." I was going to say I don't get bad dreams but we all know that's not true. I remember Enzo. I remember the anger he had in his eyes in my dream. I am not sorry. I am more powerful than him in every way. He can not overpower me and he learned that the hard way. Maeve may have bonded him to Me but he is mine. My puppet. Not the other way around. Gemma suddenly enters my mind a single tear almost exposes itself on my face but I just take a deep breath and look over at Magiano.
"Well?" Magiano says, confused. I can only think about my dream and Enzo mixed with the guilt of killing Gemma.
"I'm fine." I snap. I sit up carefully and take the cool cloth off my forehead and place it on the dresser next to the bed.
"Excuse me, I'd like to change." I say breaking Sergio's silent glare. Sergio walks out of my chamber but Magiano stays. I stare at him with a face that implies he should leave too. He takes a few steps forward and squeezes my hand. His eyes slit as he studies me on his way out the door.
